Simple, But Deadly
I rated this product 4 stars because of the N1 and N2 settings. Those should be moved behind the 11th setting. It's not something I believe will be used most of the time by your average shooters. Also, please find a way to connect those lens caps. This is the upgraded version of the vortex crossfire...

Not... terrible?
Okay, so first and foremost, I purchased this sight because of value. For around $130 you get a lifetime warranty, and (on paper) lots of good settings. How about pros first? Lifetime warranty, appears to have strong construction. 2 night/low light settings, water resistant. Comes with high AR style...

Verified Vortex Product - Worth the price
When I want a verified Vortex product, Optics Planet is a great source. Excellent price for an outstanding red-dot at an incredible price.
I won't lie, I have bought replicas on Ebay. And side by side, you can see the difference. But if you want the Vortex warranty for a firearm known for high recoil (Mini-14), it's worth the price over the knock-offs.

Pros:
- Outstanding quality, better material/ stainless steel/ reduced trigger pull weight.
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Any rifle for 50-100yards, as far as I am concerned
Would recommend: Yes

So far so good. Mounted on the pecatanny as advertised. Haven't had it to the range yet

Vortex crossfire
Ordered the Crossfire II and mounted it on my firearm. Was easy to change from the high mount to the low one. Was easy to adjust brightness. Haven’t been to the range with it yet but for the money seems like a good optic.
Pros:
- Price
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- CQB (Close Quarters Battle)
Would recommend: Yes
Good Budget Red Dot
This is a nice dot for the price, the battery life is good and the sight is clear and easy to use. It has a good number of brightness settings and range of brightness. I haven't put it through excessive abuse but I've had it on a 12ga shotgun and it's holding up well. My only complaints really are that the brightness detents could be more aggressive and I wish the adjustment went both ways so I could go from off to full power instead of having to go all the way around.
Pros:
- Good quality for price
Cons:
- Brightness adjustment could be better
Would recommend: Yes
Much better than Gen 1, aside from abuse tests they are comparable to Aimpoint / SIG
I have the Aimpoint T2, Duty RDS, and a bunch of SIG Romeo 4T Pro. I also had the Gen 1 of these Crossfire red dots, and the Gen 2 came out like a year after I bought my Gen 1. This was around 2018-2019. The Gen 2 changes are namely going from 7,000 hours to 50,000 hours run time, and the use of helicoil threaded inserts. The Gen 1 had threads cut directly into the aluminum body and would easily strip out.
For the Gen 2 Crossfire, settings below 5 aren't really visible in broad daylight. Setting 6 and above are visible for me. The dot looks like a solid dot without any weird refresh rate issues. On setting 11, I don't notice a huge blooming/circle around the lens. Not as bad as the T2 or Duty RDS.
The Crossfire lacks shake-awake and multiple reticles like the SIG Romeo 4T Pro but honestly the mechanical rheostat like on the T2 works fine and is better for standby battery life. I don't really use the shake awake on the 4T Pro's and just stay with the 2 MOA dot anyhow.
The Duty RDS has an issue where it drains the battery within 1-2 years just turned off. The electronics are always on standby. For some reason SIG's Romeo 4T Pro doesn't have that problem nor does EOTech with their EXPS3. Vortex's UH1 Gen 2 will drain that CR123 within 18 months just sitting on a shelf.
Overall - the Vortex warranty can't be beat and these Gen 2 Crossfires (at least the ones I have made in 2025) are really good. I can't say they are just as good as the T2 or Duty RDS or 4T Pro because those h...

Excellent optic!
I could not be happier with my purchase. The optic has a manual dial which I prefer much better than push buttons.

Just what I expected
With the sale price and my discount, I couldn't pass it up. Vortex quality and warranty. A simple red dot in a 45 degree offset mount on my SFAR, backing up my main scope. It came mounted on the 1/3 riser and I took it off, thinking the low mount would work better on the offset, but put it back on again as the taller mount set up a simple rotation to the left without moving my head on the stock. Perfect. Super clear, plenty of brightness (7 out of 11 is crisp and bright for me in most conditions), rock solid. Thank you.
