Bought the Vortex Opmod Diamondback Tactical scope for a budget option to mount to my 20" AR10 chambered in 308. Turrets are tactile enough for the price point. The glass is of good quality, and the tree is pretty standard and easy to use. The only thing I would suggest when using for extended ranges, would be atleast a 20 moa mount. I like to dial elevation, and after zeroed at 100 yards, could only dial up around 28 moa. Other than that I've really enjoyed using it, and it has retained zero well.

A short while ago I ordered the tan limited edition Diamondback Tactical scope by Vortex FFP 6-24x50mm. I had a problem with the paralax adjustment going out on the scope. First shot, the whole scope went totally fogged out, like instantly flying into a cloud. And had the problem with subsequent shots. Bottom line I sent it back for a replacement. Like I mentioned in that review, I hoped it was a one time issue unique to Vortex, since I have about a dozen Vortex scopes that have all worked and performed great.
I am doing this review on the replacement scope...and all is well. The scope works the way it is supposed to.
Thanks Optics Planet for prompt and excellent customer service.

I bought this scope because I am familiar with it and it was on sale. I mounted it on a AR 15 with a 24 inch barrel that gets out to 800 yards. I needed a scope with enough magnification for this OLD guy to be able to see hits out to range. I have another one of these same model scopes on one of my AR 10's and it works very well. I don't think you can go wrong with Vortex scopes considering they offer a quality scope for any price point.

Well i haven't used the scope on a weapon yet but I HAVE used this scope AS a weapon... I ordered this scope literally a week ago and It arrived 3 days ago. Sooo after it arrived I unboxed it and checked it out. Overall quality seemed better than I expected. I took it outside and checked out the glass which left little to be desired. Perfectly good glass. The turrets are also very decent. There is a slight amount of mush to them but that's being picky (they are perfectly adequate with positive clicks). The zoom and parallax adjustments were pretty tight but like many scopes I worked the zoom over a bit and it started to "break in" a little better.... now let's talk about the durability.. after i checked out the scope initially I set it on my nightstand. Later that night I decided to go to the garage and install it on one of my rifles so I grabbed the scope and headed to the garage. I walked through the breezeway and saw that the door was already cracked open and i heard rustling around inside the garage. I assumed it was my wife at first... I get to the doorway and there's a man seemingly drunk going through my stuff. I yelled at him to stop and the adrenaline started pumping. This obviously drunk burglar looked totally unconcerned with my presence and picked up a hammer off of my bench and came at me with it... well all I had in my hand was this DiamondBack Tactical 6-24x50. I'm telling you I beat this man with the scope so badly that it looked like somebody cleaned a deer o...

I was very excited for this optic and excited to go out and hunt with it and touch some longer distances with it attached to my 7PRC. The first attempt at sighting in this rifle was bad, but I didn’t laser sight it before so that’s on me. I figured I would give it another shot and laser sight it in next time. After multiple attempts at laser-bore sighting and going out and shooting, I would still experience gross inaccuracy. I’ve made sure that all the mounting hardware for the optic was tight and at proper torque, and I’ve been mindful of being gentle, but sometimes while hunting in the mountains, it’s difficult to do that. I’ve looked into ballistic charts, and I’ve tried to do everything I can to reduce any inaccuracies that I could and five minutes before typing in this review, while laser-bore sighting my rifle, I have found that even gently racking the bolt back and fourth and dry firing, has knocked my sites off at least an inch or two to the left and right and at least an inch up or down, each shot typically changed in a different direction. So based off of the results I’ve come to experience, it seems that I will have to keep my rifle and optic, bubble wrapped and carry it in whatever the best rifle case is, because I now have zero confidence that I will be anywhere close to my zero between leaving my home and driving out to my hunting spot. I really do love vortex and optics planet, the binoculars I have from Vortex are the best so choosing an optic from Vortex see...

I had to give this scope a one star review due to the fact that after properly mounting the scope to the rifle and heading to the range, the very first shot instantaneously caused a massive fog to come over the scope picture. I ended up having to keep adjusting the focus at 100 yards over and over as every shot would make the focus become blurry, foggy or whatever. Had to go all the way back to 10 yards, come forward to infinity, and go back to a sharp focus, fire a shot, and repeat. After about 50 shots, the 100 yard focus was “clear” set at 50 yards but would continue to degrade with repetitive shots. I gave this review a “yes“ recommendation because II have returned the scope for an exchange. I’m hoping this is just a one off as Vortex scopes have consistently been excellent in my experience. I have the same scope in gray mounted to a Bergara then I’ve had no problems with whatsoever.

Easy to zero. Clear glass. Turret adjustments for various distances and wind conditions. Constructed from solid material. Parallax works well and can be set to Infiniti. Buy good rings, leveler kit, and torque screwdriver. The only adverse comment is that the numbers on the turret repeat past 14 or 15 moa or so. Meaning, when you adjust past the first sequence, you need to remember that you have started the next sequence. At 500 yards, the adjustment is 11.25 moa, but longer distances would put you past the 14 or 15 moa and into the new sequence starting with 1.

I picked this up on sale for an AR10 build. It’s an awesome scope… crystal clear. And the bronze/FDE color looks great.

Well it is a vortex diamondback with a different color scheme. The rock chucks, yotes, and whistle pigs (a ground squirrel marmot 1/4 the size of a prairie dog, very challenging) do not seem to notice the difference in scope color. On sale, it was at a very good price.
