Great scope!
The scope is set up well, with easily manageable controls (field of view and focus). It is solidly built, as one would expect from equipment at this price range. The field is bright, even at dawn and dusk. My only objection is that the field of view is a bit too narrow, but that's a function of the zoom that I could have avoided by purchasing a scope with a shorter focal length. The scope allows me to easily and clearly view game at the far edges of my acreage and beyond.
Excellent spotting scope
I have used some high end spotting scopes in the past, and to my eyes, this is just as crisp. I gave up some light gathering capability and magnification range by getting a 65 mm objective, but this is a much easier size to store, carry, and manage. I bought an inexpensive spotting scope years ago -- what I bought was the lesson that if you want a useful spotting scope, it is going to cost some money! I am grateful that Optics Planet put this one on sale. I use Vortex Viper binoculars, after side by side comparisons with high end 10x50's. Swarovski's were clearer, but none of others I looked at. I held out for the Razor glass in the spotting scope because the magnification requires as much discrimination as possible. Very pleased with the handling, controls, and view through this scope. Seems to be a high quality product.

Efficient piece of equipment
I bought this same scope elsewhere for a lot more money 3 years ago.
I have used it on 4 different hunts, spending hours looking through it. It's a great compromise piece; rather lite, very clear. Have had no issues.
If it was heavier I wouldn't pack it as often. I have the angled model. I love the center band. I frequently spot something, loosen the center band, twist the scope and have a partner view from a different angle, very convenient.
I recommend to anyone looking for a packable spotting scope. Buy a quality tri-pod to go with it and you'll be happy.

Vortex Razor HD 16-48x65mm
Received the scope and it looks very clear. I didn't have the best tripod to mount it on. I was using an old camera tripod. However, the pin in the body would not engage the hole in the eyepiece and I returned it to OpticsPlanet for an exchange and ungraded to the Razor 85mm, which I haven't received at this time. I DID like the coarse and fine focus. I had a well known brand that I could never get clear. I liked the adjustable eyecup and adjustable sunshade. I don't know how the sunshade will function when facing the sun at an angle. I've had this on rifle scopes and did not think they worked that well. But I did like this scope and hope the 85mm will be as nice. I would recommend this scope.

VORTEX RAZOR HD 16-48X65 SPOTTING SCOPE
GREAT QUALITY FOR THE PRICE. NOT QUITE THE CLARITY OF A SWAROVSKI BUT FOR A $2500 SAVINGS WHO CAN COMPLAIN. USED IT FROM MY HOUSE AND SCOUTED OUR HUNTING AREA FROM 4 MILES AWAY. COULD CLEARLY SEE AREAS WITH GOOD POTENTIAL FOR HOLDING DEER IN THE ARIZONA MOUNTAINS.
WOULD BE NICE IF STORAGE CASE WOULD ATTACH TO THE EXTERIOR OF TODAYS BACKPACKS AND CASE WAS SLIGHTLY LARGER. SCOPE BARELY FITS INTO CASE (A DIAMETER PROBLEM).

Vortex always delivers excellent glass
Very satisfied with vortex razor 16x48 spotting scope. Very clear, even at full magnification. I bought this on close out as they are no longer making this model. Not sure why they discontinued it, I would recommend this anyone looking for high end glass at a midrange price.

Great scope value
Can't beat this scope for the money. Daytime it keeps pace with much more expensive optics. Dawn and dusk it only gives up a couple minutes of light and the smallest amount of sharpness compared to scopes costing twice as much.

Great for birding!
I purchased this scope from Optics Planet because I have had great service and support from Optics Planet, and have confidence in doing business with the company. I purchased the scope for birding, in particular for viewing raptors and for taking photographs. The scope is as described, and the optics are fantastic. I appreciate that the case (very nice, very well designed IMHO) came with the scope. I also have Vortex Viper binoculars; to me, the optics quality are similar - great clarity and light collection. Easy to use.
