Rascal's Review of Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50mm 30mm Tube First Focal Plane Rifle Scope

This is a very light weight hunting scope with more magnification range than most "hunting" scopes offer and exceptionally clear glass, that really IS worthy of the "Razor" name. I think i saw a review that said the glass wasn't up to par. I have no idea what in the world that reviewer is talking about. I own NF ATACR, Steiner, Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS 2, Burris and Vortex Razor and this LHT Razor has EXCEPTIONAL glass quality. Like i said in the beginning, it is very, very light as well. That's about where i'll stop praising it though. I mean capped turrets are kind of a must for hunting so i'll give it that but the reticle is very thin/fine to the point of being a little difficult to find, especially with a dark background. This is NOT a tactical scope !! Reticle is way too fine for that, meaning if you have to make fast transitions, this reticle will not serve you well but it will for stationary targets. Also, while it may not be "flimsy" it kind of FEELS that way. As in, if i fall and this lands on boulder... i think i'm going to be screwed kind of a feeling. I don't feel that way with a NF ATACR. Also, as many others on a military site i belong to have said, the illumination mechanism is "chincy". I'll take the weight savings over robustness for this kind of hunting optic, as i understand the trade off and its benefit. I also love the price, especially when on sale... but the illumination mechanism is really lame IMHO. If you're shooting at dusk or dawn you will likely need the aid of illumination and operating that chincy thing is a pain IMHO. That's about all i have to say... but again... i've looked at things thousands of yards away and was really impressed with the crispness and clarity of the site picture i was getting through this glass. With that said... if you just want a less expensive scope with decent magnification range of x22 for longer range shooting with very good, very exceptional glass... this may work for you instead of having to buy something else for thousands more.
