Great dedicated Red Dot

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on August 30, 2016
I have the original SPARC, so I am clearly a biased user. Really haven't found a Vortex product that I don't like yet.

Anyways, if you are looking for a great red dot sight that is going to live on your AR then the SPARC AR is one of the best options out there. The battery is easy to get to and the optic is set up at the correct height. All you need to do is zero the optic and you are good to go.

While I love the versatility of the mounting options that the original SPARC offers, if you don't plan to use it then why pay for it? Thus the SPARC AR becomes the next best choice.

Only thing I do not love is the rubber caps connected to the protective skin...similar to the iO cover for the T1 (and seems to be replaceable which is good) but overall I prefer a hard cap design.
Most Helpful Positive Review Best Bang for the Buck Red Dot
This new red dot optic is simply amazing, very easy to mount(w/o reading manual) all of the parts are high quality, the lenses are crystal clear as well as the MOA intensity, it even comes with a cleaning cloth. IMO the smaller 2MOA dot is the way to go and I really like how pronounced you can adjus...

Most Helpful Negative Review Sparc, poor workmanship
Never got the chance to field test, although it was recommended by a trusted friend. Upon receipt it was noted the optical sealant had bubbled into the field of view. It may have caused a secondary issue with a reflection of the red Dot itself. The sealant was at the the 4-6 o'clock range while the ...

Rugged, Reliable & Budget friendly

by John H, Verified Owner from NM, United States Written on January 21, 2021
I have had two of these on rifles for 4 years now. In that time they have been well used (but not abused). They hold up well in the back of the jeep when out in the wilderness. It has been used for coyote hunting, range days and even a few 3-gun matches. They hold zero very well and have very long battery life especially with lithium batteries. I chose this optic specifically because it uses readily available AAA batteries instead of expensive & sometimes hard to fund watch batteries.

Does it's job

by Matthew, from TN, United States Written on November 27, 2020
Purchased for the same price at Palmetto, added to my AR9 and it works perfectly on a 9mm. Point of aim and impact are dead on with very little adjustment out the box. So far it's been months and the battery is still running so we'll see if the battery life actually last as long as it states.

I have been super impressed with this optic. I use to run aimpoint compM2 on my ARs but gave this a shot and have been very happy with it. I put it on a Springfield Saint pistol and it's a perfect combo.

  • none yet

Great red dot

by Hein Sorn, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on January 12, 2020
Plug and play great red dot .especially when you can buy it on sale.I have the same red dot on my AR Rifle. Works well right out of the box. My eyesight isn't great and using the red dot scope improved my accuracy over the iron sights.

Great dot, but the FDE cover doesn't work

by Matt, from WA, United States Written on December 9, 2019
I really like Vortex stuff and the SparcAR dot is a great unit. I especially like the idea of a standard, easy to find, aaa batt. However I have two of the FDE versions and the lens covers on both of them dont snap together when removed from the optic. (The regular black version cover works fine)
Pros:
  • Great little red dots
Cons:
  • FDE cover doesn't snap together when in use
Best Used for:
  • everything

excellant quality optic for the money, holds zero, seems very good in all light conditions. Mounted on Bushmaster AR, was easy, and sighting in was just as easy. Very fast shipping by Optics planet. Would recommend to anyone.

Great product

by Ruguy, from PA, United States Written on October 20, 2019
I ordered this product Sunday night had it Wednesday afternoon. Very easy to set up took maybe 5 minutes. When I went to the range to site it in, it was not far off like I thought it was going to be, took me 4 adjustments and about 20 rounds to get it dialed in. Good quality very nice, highly recommend.

Ok for the price, acceptable for civilian use

by Kt, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 4, 2019
I really wanted to like this sight, having had excellent expertises with opmod and vortex products. It is compact, robust, holds zero and has only minor blue tint to the lens. Easy to replace the commonly available battery also. But the fact that the emitter takes up about 10-15% of the field of view and the short battery life make this one of my least favorite sights to use, and the lens covers are just cheezy
Pros:
  • Works, inexpensive, comes with everything you need
Cons:
  • Battery life, giant emitter, lens caps are junk

Solid and Reliable Optic

by JB, from WA, United States Written on June 17, 2019
This was the first SPARC that I have owned and probably won't be the last one. It has a solid field of view and am tempted to put the vortex magnifier behind it. It works perfect on patrol rifles and now its running great on my AR 9mm.
