Didn't want to spend thousands on a scope.. Wanted something for on the deck and hunting spotting. Was in the budget I was ok with. Adjustments work great I like that it has a sleeve/cover that has built in lens covers. Can't fall into the glass and forgotten.
I have had a very basic inexpensive scope in the past. I was a little surprised at the size of it. But it's a lot more scope. Sure it's pretty comparable to others was just a bit surprised. Don't consider that a flaw. Just not what I was use to. And I'm fine with it.
Image quality is great.

Since retirement, my wife has become quite the bird nerd heading to different places in South Carolina. Often times we show up to very open areas with only 10x binos, and they just couldn't get the job done. With our new Viper we can zoom in on bird details with extreme clarity. The adjustment knobs have just enough tension to hold them in place yet are very smooth. I've always said buy as high of quality glass as you can afford. With the sale price from Optics Planet, we were able to go up a level in quality and it's been an amazing view!
Pros:
- Great edge to edge clarity. Easy setup, came with a neoprene cover. An excellent piece of equipment!
Best Used for:
- Open areas with 100 plus yards of viewing.

This scope is great! Image stays sharp with magnification. Solid build and mounts easy to multiple tripods. Also appreciate the interchangeable eyepiece.

Purchased this to replace a cheap angled scope from amazon. So much better quality (and so much more money). But I imagine I'll never need another one. Really big and heavy, but I don't plan on hiking with it. Bought a good tripod and window mount for it, so I got the straight version. Others mentioned using the harbor freight apache case. I was afraid that wouldn't work with the straight version. But works with the eyepiece removed. Fits perfect with the original scope foam in the packaging. Just have to trim the foam that comes with the Apache case to fill up the remaining space. Really amazing what you can see with it. I could pick out deer miles away.

Arrived securely packaged.
Looking forward to taking this spotting scope to the range. Purchased spotting scope along with a VORTEX VIPER 85mm spotting scope MOA Reticle eyepiece. Trying to learn how to range with MOA hash marks.
I have tried it out and the VIPER spotting scope in conjunction with the MOA reticle is accurate for ranging.
Glass is clear. Focusing is smooth -- easy to turn the focus dial.
Extremely high-quality lenses for the price.
Sturdy. Heavy.
Tripod used with this needs to be sturdy to bear the weight of the spotting scope.
Easily mounts on my tripod.
Soft protective sleeve shroud is included.
Easy to assemble. I had to get used to the bayonet-mount eyepiece connection to the body. Once understood, it works well. A quick/convenient lens-change mechanism.
I will recommend this product to others.

It seems like it should be a great spotting scope, strong reviews. I have a Vortex Viper 25x rifle scope which I love, but at 300 to 600+ yards to becomes difficult to see my shots on a target. So I thought the 60x Viper spotting scope would be great at allowing me to spot my shots accurately. Unfortunately, I just could not make the optical image sharp at longer ranges. In fact, my 25x50mm Viper rifle scope did a better job at spotting than this 60x85mm scope! Based on other's comments, I'm guessing this scope is defective and I've sent it back. Otherwise, it is a very nice scope.

Exactly what 73 year old eyes need to see target impacts at 50, 100, and 200 yards. Cheaper than a Seeing Eye Dog or cataract surgery.
Very well made quality optic. Clear glass / lens. Precise focus and zoom with NO slop. Fit and finish are perfect.

I've used Tasco, Simmons, and Bushnell, but the optics on the Viper HD blow them out of the proverbial water. We had great views of the moon and Saturn last night, but I'm really looking forward to getting it to the range. And OP's prices are unbeatable. I really wanted to buy from a locally owned brick and mortar store, but they couldn't get in the same zip code as OP.
Pros:
- Optical clarity edge to edge
Cons:
- Not truly parfocal, but pretty darn close
Best Used for:
- prairie dog hunting
- Rifle range

Very clear glass. Interchangeable eye-piece is a plus. ARCA style and conventional screw in mounting options are available. Excellent value for the money. I was looking to upgrade my spotting scope for longer range shooting but didn't want to break the bank and this scope fits my needs quite well.
Pros:
- Clear optics
- ARCA compatible

I was looking to replace my less powerful spotting scope to help me with calling shots out to longer distances (1,000 yds+), but didn't want to break the bank. This VOrtex spotting scope fits both of my needs. Very clear glass and well constructed. I'm able to observe distant shots better with this scope than I had been before. I'm quite happy with this purchase.
Pros:
- Good price point
- clear optics
- replaceable eye piece
