Most Helpful Positive Review Great Improvement over Gen
I have a Gen I Viper PST 6-24X50 and it is a pretty good scope but the Gen II is light years better. The glass is much improved, the turrets and zero stop are also better. One thing I find that's a great improvement is that the Gen II has a much larger eye box. It's much easier to find that sweet spo...

Most Helpful Negative Review bad scope with bad fish-eye at close ranges on lower magnification
The scope felt nice, had nice turrets but its no good when it looks like your looking through a fish bowl. This effect was very noticeable when looking at a chain link fence and scanning the fence, you could see the picture of the fence bending as the scope moved along.

Lots of features for the money

by Nate, from ID, United States Written on March 11, 2026
Very similar to my Trijicon Ten Mile for 1/3 the cost. FFP, illuminated reticle, mrad tree. The eye relief is generous. Turrets are crisp and tactile. The zerostop setting is a little unorthodox so READ the manual BEFORE sighting in and save yourself a second trip! The only delta in glass between my high end scopes and this one is low light conditions, but not by a huge delta.
Pros:
  • feature rich
Cons:
  • Low light compared to glass 3x the price, but thats expected
Best Used for:
  • Mid tier builds

Great scope, at an affordable price point

by Vortex PST Gen II, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 29, 2026
This is a great scope, at an affordable price. I have several Vortex PST Scopes, most are for long range shooting with a magnification of 5-25 power. I bought this PST Scope for my Tikka T-3 CTR for deer hunting, as the magnification is 3-15 power. This scope is perfect for woodland deer hunts, or reaching out to longer ranges if needed.

the Viper II

by Cat, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 18, 2026
I have not used the new Viper gen II as of today, have not mounted it on my CZ 457 Varmint. i expect it to work flawlessly. Just looking thru the scope out to around 600 yards the 3 thru 15 setting are flawless. The scope does not show any apparent loss of view at the highest settings. The scope image is clear and distinct. Comparing it to the Strike Eagle, which is a good product/scope it is superior in clarity. I just want to make one thing clear the Strike Eagle is clear also, but the Viper goes up a notch, but one expects that since you are paying more for the Viper. I am also fine with the Strike Eagle. The one item that will be a challenge I believe is setting the 0 stop. I have gone over the instructions, seems challenging but once I mount the scope on my rifle, I feel all the steps will fall in line.
Best Used for:
  • Target shooting & competition

Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44mm 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP) Rifle Scope

by Ray, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on January 14, 2026
Very well made with click turrets for elevation and windage. I got the MRAD version to make calculations much easier using the Hornady Ballistics app on my iPhone. It also works well with my Leupold TBR range finder. The 3-15 zoom works well and the clicks on the turrets are solid. The scope is loaded with features including adjustable parallax and reticle illumination which can be switched on and off. It is big and heavy which will take me some time to get used to that. It replaced an older Leupold scope which did not have the quick adjustable turrets for elevation ranges. It was much cheaper than the equivalent Leupold but every bit as clear on the optics side. The instructions on setting the zero stop are not clear, you need to watch the You Tube presentation to understand all the steps.
Pros:
  • Loaded with useful features. Excellent quality
Cons:
  • Big and heavy. Probably not the best for quick reflex shooting
Best Used for:
  • Shooting range, stationary shooting.
