Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent Rimfire Optics
This is my first Weaver scope and I'm favorably impressed. I was somewhat skeptical that the smaller (28mm) objective could produce bright aberration-free images, but the RV-7 is crystal clear. The magnification adjustment is stiff (as it should be) yet smooth. Eye relief is very good, allowing the ...

Most Helpful Negative Review So-So scope merely adequate for .22 Rimfire
I thought that the Weaver name and the fact that this scope is made in Japan would mean a superior product- not necessarily so...When initially sighting this in, I was 3" low and 2" to the left. So 12 clicks of elevation (1/4" clicks) right?-WRONG. To make a long story short, I determined that the s...

Weaver4hunting

by Damon, from SC, United States Written on August 4, 2018
I am a Squirrel Hunter, using tree dogs, in the South. I've been through 5-6 different brands. Weaver 2.5 x 7 is the best balance for me. Crystal clear, which is very important to me, I use my scope to find the squirrels after the dogs have treed. 7x power is all I need (I grew up with a fixed Weaver k4). 2.5x power is good for following a squirrel running through the trees (timbering). My zoom adjustment is not stiff, guess I got lucky, as I really hate a stiff zoom. The caps are aluminum (Nikon's rimfire is plastic). The click adjustments are audible and dont move. I will, really will, buy another. This light package is perfect for my style hunting.
Pros:
  • Clear Bright Optics
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Perfect rimfire scope

by None, from AZ, United States Written on January 10, 2018
Mounted this on a Henry Frontier 20" bbl. 22LR rifle for hunting. Looks really sharp mounted on a pair of weaver knock- off ring mounts. Quickly zeroed at 50 ft. The crosshairs fill a cotton tail rabbitt perfectly at 50 ft. At the lowesr zoom. And at 100 ft, the crosshais fill a cotton tail just as perfectly at the highest zoom. Great for referencing distances. With 40 gain 1230 + FPS ammo, the tip of the bottom thick line is almost an exact point of impact at 100 ft. On the highest zoom setting. Again, great reference point for distances. This scope is perfect in every way. Couldnt be happier with the scope.
Pros:
  • All good
Cons:
  • None

Great Little Scope!

by craz4gunz, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on February 7, 2017
Slapped the RV-7 on my brand new CZ 455 and had it zeroed at 50 yds in 5 shots using Federal Automatch 22lr. Took it out to 100 and did have some problems getting on paper. Went "old school" and started shooting at fixed points in the berm so I could tell where I was off. Long/Short...after a half dozen "ranging" shots, I was popping 50 cent size and smaller rocks that could not be seen with my naked eye from the bench. Went back to the paper - consistent X rings for the rest of the day, off my bi-pod. Great little scope!

Weaver RV-7 2.5X28mm Scope

by Bill, from VA, United States Written on August 5, 2016
I ordered this scope for a new Ruger American bolt action 22LR 22 inch barrel. I like the small profile of this scope, and after I got the focus set for my vision, I find this scope is very clear and sharp and is of very high quality. I ordered the variable power to give this excellent rifle maximum flexibility, although I will probably use it mostly from 2.5 to 5 power. For comparison, I mounted a 3X9 40mm on the rings and the rifle lost the nice trim handling and profile. This Weaver RV-7 is perfect for my Ruger 22 rifle.

satisfied with scope

by C120, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 2, 2016
one scope among many to get the job done. This Weaver scope is as advertised. Clear crisp scope easily adjustable with adequate eye relief. A good scope for the price. I mounted mine on a CZ 452 Ultra lux. With medium height Burris rings the scope was jus high enough to barely allow the bolt to lift fully.

RV7 rimfire classic

by blrshooter, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on March 25, 2016
Great scope. Sits nicely on a Browning BL-22. Sight picture is crystal clear and scope adjustments worker perfectly. Took 5 shots to zero-in at 50 yds and the last 3 of these were in the 10 ring. Only wish is that lens covers came with it. I had to buy Butler Creek Biki covers.
Pros:
  • Quality at a Fair Price
Cons:
  • No lens covers provided
Best Used for:
  • rimfire hunting rifle

Very Nice Rimfire Scope

by Swamper, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on October 23, 2015
I was looking for a nice rimfire rifle scope without a standard reticle. I'm surprised at how hard this is to find. Weaver has put together a very nice rimfire scope with all the things I was looking for and none of the things I don't want or need. It looks and functions great. I would definitely buy this scope again.
Pros:
  • well-made product
  • standard reticle
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hunting.

Weaver RV7 Classic Rimfire

by mark, from NV, United States Written on September 27, 2015
I was seeking a high quality rimfire scope that did not break the bank to pair with a recently purchased CZ455 American. I was leaning towards the Nikon ProStaff BDC or P-Rimfire BDC, but as has been reported in online blogs, those optics did not seem not crystal clear. I settled on the RV7 Dual-X due to its robust design and crystal clear optics in a smaller package. The RV7 HAS NOT disappointed, and I will give it 5-stars instead of 4-stars when it is available with BDC reticle.

Excellent Value

by Varminter, from NY, United States Written on February 9, 2015
A classic scope with plenty of power for my Browning 22LR T-bolt. It is does not look too big and holds zero perfectly. I paired it with a DNZ reaper. I appreciate the quality at this price point especially the Japanese glass.

Best bang for your buck

by Donnie Powell, Verified Owner from AR, United States Written on December 29, 2014
I put this scope on my Anschutz Model 54 Sporter and could not be more pleased. I use my Model 54 for squirrel hunting and this scope if perfect for that. Wish my old scope had fogged up years earlier now.
