Most Helpful Positive Review Handy on a range gun, but wouldn't advise on a service rifle.
Bought several of these and they are handy for one-handed mag removal on the range, but would not recommend them on a service rifle because the port side release could be accidentally pushed and the magazine released if contact is made with your body or load gear, especially when the rifle is hung f...

Most Helpful Negative Review Avoid this product
I bought 2 of these on a whim (to qualify for free shipping) and boy, what a terrible mistake! First, zero instructions. No problem, mag release is easy… Second, you have to remove the extended button cover to install the release itself. Once the release is in, you can put the extended cover on…bu...

Ambi mag release

by Jsin, from FL, United States Written on April 19, 2026
Excellent mag release and retention was worried it might be easy to knock out by accident on the left side but it holds great and looks great on my 50 shades of fde build

Follow up review after 1 month of use

by DoodleGA, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on April 9, 2026
Here is the follow up after 1 month use of the XTS Ambi ar-15 extended magazine release. It has not been easy to press the ambi side when you have a full mag inserted. It is stiff and if they would extend it out, like on the Leapers-UTG version, it would be a perfect fit. Most mags will not release using the short ambi side and took it out of my AR. Save your money and purchase the Leapers version with an extended arm on the left side. Should not be that difficult to improve your product

XTS Ambi is ok

by DoodleGA, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on February 18, 2026
Installed the XTS Ambi and it works, but it is stiff on the fingers Ambi side of the release could stand to be about 1/2 in longer because it is not an easy reach and does require more than a simple press with the index finger.
Pros:
  • cost
Cons:
  • Needs to be a little longer

Flawless Machining, Perfect Color Match

by ReeceDOA, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on October 14, 2025
impressed with the XTS Ambidextrous Extended Magazine Release (purchased 09/25/2025). The quality of the machining is exceptionally clean, precise attention to detail. What sets this component apart is the color: the finish is a dead match for my lower receiver, which is a notoriously difficult feat to achieve across manufacturers - got lucky! Functionally, the ambidextrous design is crisp and intuitive, making reloads seamless. To top it off, shipping came in a full day earlier than estimated. This is an excellent, high-quality upgrade that enhances both the look and the performance of the rifle

Poor fit on ambi/left side

by Joey Bagodonuts, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on September 26, 2025
The ppl bi+ching about no instructions, really???? It’s not that difficult. Plus you ever hear of Google? Anyway, right now it doesn’t fit well on the left hand side to the point the ambidextrous release doesn’t even function. I’m going to have to file/sand it down to get it to work. Additionally, as one commenter stated, it is not OD green. More like metallic lime. Lastly, the wrench barely had teeth/grooves & what it did have stripped after one use. Eventually, I’ll just replace it with a better made part from somebody else. I just took a chance on this inexpensive one. Not worth it. Save your time & money & just get a better one.
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • poor fit
  • Inaccurate color
  • Bad wrench and screws

good piece

by Daniel R, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on June 27, 2025
I did not have to take the thing apart to install it as some others said, i just used a punch to help push it in far enough as i screwed it down, it is best to remove the bolt catch if you have a extended one though. the button dose wiggle a little but that isn't a issue for me, it seems good. seems to work as well as a standard magazine release. would be nice if they gave instructions so people didn't mess it up by taking it apart like in some other reviews here. the only part i had to remove to install was the paddle on the button.
Pros:
  • good color
  • Functional ambidextrious controls
Cons:
  • No instruction
  • button wiggles
Best Used for:
  • AR15

doesn't fit all mag release slots.

by Squeeds, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on December 21, 2024
Bought the purple one for a build for my wife. Once installed it wouldn't eject proper, the root cause being it was getting stuck and not releasing, the part flexes just right at the pivot that it refused to budge. Installed the purple button with the mil spec back part and it works fine, but not what I wanted.
Pros:
  • Purple
Cons:
  • Doesn't work well in a Ruger AR5.56

great ambi mag release

by Grandpa, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on August 4, 2024
I was worried when I read some of the reviews about how people were worried about how sensitive these mag releases were but I tried bumping them on gear and myself to get the mag to drop out and had no issues.
