It will not fit without modification. The non-standard design of the fixed front sight on the Ruger AR-556 is not compatible with the VISM extended handguard without modification.
The handguard fits perfectly around my Colt A frame front sight and I have another one that fits perfectly on a Windham Weaponry flat top gas block. Good product, good service by Optics Planet.
