The i model is the international export model, it may have some features removed to make it allowable to ship outside of the United States.

Can this night vision scope be used during daylight if turned off? Will it be damaged if the lens cover is lifted even though turned off? Expert Answer

No, you will not be able to see anything if the unit is off, and turning it on in the light could damage the unit. However, removing the lens cap when the unit is off will not cause any damage.
