Admittedly I'm a little new to this but seems that the MCTAR-20XG2 won't fit on a standard Ruger 556? The threaded portion of the barrel nut is in way Manufacturer Answer

That is correct. the MCTAR-20XG2 requires a mil-spec Gi barrel nut. the ruger 556 uses a proprietary barrel which is not a GI barrel nut. you would need to replace the ruger nut with a gi barrel nut. https://www.opticsplanet.com/aero-precision-ar15-standard-barrel-nut.html

it should fit but does require removal of the delta ring and uses the gi barrel nut without ring

Installed perfectly, zero movement and is tough as nails. All that I could ask for! The 2 piece design is great for anyone who doesn't want to take off the standard A2 front sight base but have the advantage of a free float handguard.

Built like a tank and is exactly what I was looking for. Replaced stock m&p15 handguard. The only difficulty was that I had to use a dremel to remove the delta ring. Once they was removed, it was an easy install.
