Expert Answer

Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on May 23, 2019

The red dot comes with a one piece mount meant to fit a picatinny rail. You can replace the mount for a 34mm ring and then install it to whatever you want as long as the mounts are compatible.

The red dot uses a CR2032 and features the MST (motion sensor technology) and will automatically power off after 5 minutes of inactivity and will power on again when moved. The battery will last 24 continuous hours at the highest brightness setting, but on the lower settings should reach over 1000 hours with the MST technology. And it does still have their push button activation and adjustment for the illumination.

The Leupold Freedom 1x34 Red Dot Sight with the BDC turret is used to accurately shoot common 55 grain .223 ammo out to 550 yards. So once you zero the Leupold Freedom 1x34 Red Dot Sight at 100 yards you will loosen the turret allowing you to set it back to zero without messing up its point of impact. Now that the sight is zeroed and the turret is reset you can dial the turret to the given distance you are shooting allowing for accurate shots.

Does this have a locking or zero stop style turret?

No. The Leupold Freedom 1x34 Red Dot Sight does not utilize a zero stop feature. However, it does have covers for both the elevation and windage adjustment knobs, and that will help prevent any unwanted zero changes.

Yes. Each red dot design has to survive 5,000 impacts on the Punisher, Leupold’s recoil simulation machine. The Leupold Freedom 1x34 Red Dot Sight will not have any issues being paired with your 45-70.
