Quality Optic at reasonable price
Athlon Optics gets a bad reputation at times due to manufacturing of the parts in China. But in all honesty what isn't made in china these days. As long as the quality control is up to the standards required it doesn't make a difference to me. That being said, this is a quality optic for the money. ...

Black specs falls on lens.
As time goes on, eventually black specs from the internal oily coating starts falling on the lens. The lens are as clear as vortex but the quality control of manufacturing is not. I saw lots of oily debris and even lints looking through the objective lens. Save the money and buy a better brand that ...

Just sayin': This Scope may just out-shoot you or your rifle
This Athlon scope is first, massive, and quality built for a precision rifle. Yet, the 56mm bell will gather plenty of light if shooting game at sunrise or sunset, and the image is BRIGHT. I have mine mounted on a Savage 10BA Stealth in 308 win, using Leupold MED mounts, however, still have half inch clearance between Objective Lens and barrel. (I consider this too high and will ideally be getting LOW mounts). The feel of the windage and elevation detentes are positive and audible, the focus and zoom rings smooth and firm, with NO inactive play. Image is crystal clear and bright through zoom range, however the 34x power is a bit insane, and only really helpful on a bench when spotting your hits. One thing that is a detractor is that the eye pupil is relatively narrow, and even more so when at higher power, so the aid of an adjustable cheek -riser for a positive weld is very helpful if spotting in a hurry. I do appreciate that the illumination is relatively demur, and only provides more than adequate brightness when in low-light conditions to differentiate crosshairs from a dark background. (Some other owners complain, and might prefer overpowering glare, or like extra-brightness, even in daylight shooting to animate their scope picture). Right now, I am burning in this new rifle, and initially bore sighted at 100yds, hits are a bit scattered, esp with heavy round nosed bullets, but the FMJ pointed cartridges are grouping very nicely. Still feeling like I can rely on the g...

Great Value
Overall amazing bang for your buck with this scope!Obviously has long range capabilities but not the best for short and finding close or small targets. In comparison to others with 8-34 it's a great value.

Multiple Failures
We have three Athlon Argos scopes all mounted on .308 bolt action rifles. After about 500 rounds one of them will not hold zero resulting in groups over 3" at 100 yards. I have also had similar issues with the Helos. Buy cheap by twice! Athlon is great about sending replacements but whats the point if the replacement is going to break? Not to mention the cost of shipping, range time, ammunition to diagnose and then later re-zero, and so on.

VERY HAPPY
Had this Argos 8-34X56 MOA for anout 6 months now and am very pleased and impressed. Initially had it on my 224Valkyrie and took it out to 600yds and it performed flawlessly,,, now have it on my RPR 6.5 CM. My observations: built like a tank,,, glass incredibly clear even out to 34X,,, turrets are positive and very “clickable” ( thanks Athlon for fixing this on the newer models),,, tracking has been spot on,,, zero fix “mod” is great,,, no issues, no need to use customer service yet,,, and of course the warranty kicks a$$. Yes, eye relief is a bit tight but for bench rest use it really is not an issue. Overall I am incredibly happy with this purchase and plan on buying another one soon
Pros:
- Price point, very well built, clear glass, accurate, warranty, great turrets
Cons:
- Eye relief ( not really an issue with bench rest use
Best Used for:
- Long distance, bench rest use

Very good for the price point
I have a Night Force SHV and this scope comes close to that in functionality. The glass is not as crisp especial when you increase the magnification above 20X. I just used this in a long range completion and did very well. The reason I purchased this was for the extra magnification above the 15X max on the NF SHV and it did make a difference when I was shooting over 400 yards.
I really like this scope and only took off one star for the fact that when the magnification is over 20ish the clarity of seeing the target suffers and I can't see crisp lines.

- feature rich
- cost, and quality

Low Cost, High Magnification, Problem?
I found the glass to be pretty clear, the clicks for adjustment very nice, the eye relief at the ridiculous 34x magnification pretty bad and slightly less bad around 12. The FFP is nice and as advertised. The illumination is not daylight bright but nor should it be.
Pros:
- Warranty
- Lots of features
- Economy
Cons:
- eye relief
Best Used for:
- Budget long range shooting

Great company, great warranty
Purchased the ArgosBTR, had a slight issue but the handling of the warranty was top notch. They were open and honest, no hassle, great communication... Got a replacement and it’s great. Super scope for the money, especially for a first focal plane scope. I will purchase this and other products of theirs again.

Good glass...
I didn’t give the scope a one rating because the glass was good for a scope in this price range. However, I had to return the scope because the elevation turret didn’t seem to actually do anything. Shooting at 100 yards, adjusting the turret all the way “down”, the best result was about 12” above my point of aim. Using the same rifle with a 3-9X Cabela’s scope I was hitting a 6” plate with no problems.
Pros:
- glass
Cons:
- Turrets
- eye box

Great Glass!
This is my 2nd Argos and I have been very happy with both of them. The glass is clear and the tracking is perfect. This is scope is a very good value! Compared to some scopes that cost a lot more. Yes, I have a Vortex Razor, Night Force NSX and Sig and they are very good but is it really worth the extra money? Not to me!
