Most Helpful Positive Review Very good, not great
When comparing side by side with the 1-6 razor hd I went with a Burris XTRII 1-5. At 1x the Razor beat out the Burris in that the Burris has some blurring on the outside rim of the glass, it doesn't affect aiming at all or target acquisition but it is still there while the Razor was pretty clear edg...

Most Helpful Negative Review A decent scope, but not for the money.
My experience level is amateur. I haven't yet learned how to use mil or moa to pick out a target, but I am a good shot and know the difference between a good and bad scope. Out of the box, the illumination feature worked intermittently/sporadically, so I am returning it for that manufacturer defe...

wow! Awesome quality glass

by stlrx86, from MO, United States Written on January 21, 2018
All I wanted was a scope with a good clarity. I don't care who makes it because only Asia and German seem to make the actual lens for all scopes. This is made in Philippine and their glass works great. Nikon also brought their factory to Philippine and I love their scopes too. This xtr II 1-5x24mm, in particular, has exceptional glass quality along with the illumination. Super bright illumination which makes the scope daylight useable. I tried Vortex 1-8x24mm and guys.. seriously stay away from that. x7-x8 was basically will not impress you. I am totally happy with the product and I would recommend this product.
Pros:
  • High quality optics
  • Tactile feedback during adjustments
  • daylight bright
  • Super clear lens
  • smooth adjustment
Cons:
  • a bit long
Best Used for:
  • any firearm activities

Great scope, but mine didn't work

by John Mountjoy, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on November 22, 2016
I eagerly bought the Burris XTR II 1-5x having been a Burris fan for some time. The MTAC 1-4x is a great 3Gun scope that I'd had previously and I wanted to stretch things out slightly further with the 1-5x. Plus, the 5.56 BDC in the XTR II seemed appealing. I ordered easily from OpticsPlanet with a good price and quickly had my new scope in hand.

The glass is very, very good - great clarity and light transmission, plus a very clear reticle. Its a nice scope. The only problem with mine was that the illumination did not work beyond the fourth setting. No - it wasn't washed out in bright daylight. It simply didn't work. The dial goes to 11 (haha), but only worked on 1-4. I tried replacing battery, cleaning contacts - nothing. Had to return to OpticsPlanet for refund. But good glass for sure.
Pros:
  • Clarity
  • durable
  • Useful reticle
Cons:
  • Heavy
  • Difficult to zoom (tight)
Best Used for:
  • 3gun

Impressed with the quality of the scope and the ease of use. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a great scope. I have had zero issues with this product. Burris is a reputable company with outstanding products.

Dead on.. Under 100 yrds.

by Midwest Gun Hawgs, from IL, United States Written on February 11, 2016
After reviewing almost all of the scopes with the same specs, I chose this one because of the Burris reputation and the illuminated reticle. It was easy to adjust and sight in. Getting the scope zeroed was easy and not a problem at all. You get what you pay for. I mounted this scope on my Sig Sauer Patrol 556 and it's the best thing I did.
Pros:
  • easy to zero and to operate
  • Perfect to 100yds/meter or closer
  • Easy to use. Very clear optics
  • Illumitated reticule for limited light hunting.
Cons:
  • Pricing is a tad on the high side
Best Used for:
  • tactical, home defense
  • target, comp, hunting, defense
  • under 100 ayrds

Great 3-gun scope

by Gobabygo, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 12, 2015
Very impressed with this scope. The glass is clear, the dot is bright, the reticle works great (I got the mil-dot). Super small nit pick, but I wish you didn't have to turn the zoom ring 1/2 turn to get from 1x to 5x power.

Great optic for the price

by Glenn, Verified Owner from HI, United States Written on March 17, 2015
If you're looking for a high quality optic to keep up with the competition but don't want break the bank, this is the optic for you! Super clean glass from edge to edge and bright illumination for them hot sunny days that doesn't get washed out in shadows or brightness from the sun. At 1 power, there just a hair of paralax but still able to shoot with both eyes open with no problems and 5 power reaches out to 350+ yards with ease. Although really heavy when combined with the P.E.P.R. mount(ABOUT 2LBS!!!)I still highly recommend it for 3 gun competition and the unconditional lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either.
Pros:
  • Priced well.
  • Clarity of the glass is excellent
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • 3gun

Nice Scope, but...

by Me, from MN, United States Written on February 9, 2015
I purchased this scope immediately after I was able to look through and handle it. The sight is simple and clean so as not to cover up small targets. The reticle lighting is such that between each step brightness there is an "off" position so it is a simple 1-2 click to turn it on or off. The fastfire3 reticle was not as useful as I thought it would be. The main scope is thin enough that it can be used as a quick fire reticle in the low power position. I came to the conclusion that the Fastfire3 was not needed, so I sold it. It was just as fast to look through the main scope at low power and obtain the target. With the Fastfire3 off, it was just that much faster to look through the main scope. I found that I could still use my Troy iron sights as long as a person can still see through the scope. Quality appears to be very good.

Very bright and accurate

by TwoGNR, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 6, 2015
I bought this for a rifle that is my new 2-gun rifle (DD MK18) I already own and have used the Burris Fullfield TAC 30 1-4x so this is an "upgrade". The finish and feel of the scope is perfect. Main difference is that the reticle on this 1-5x is smaller and thinner, which is better for longer ranges in my opinion, but a little slower on CQ target acquisition. Also, this has one more times the magnification.

Another big difference is the size and clarity of the eyepiece- this 1-5x is larger and brighter.

I mounted the scope with an inch-lbs. torque driver per the specs, with the upper in a vise which I leveled the upper, then aimed the scope at a Sharpie line I had made on the garage wall with a level. I then made sure the verticle reticle line lined up and then alternately torqued the scope down (I used the Burris PEPR mount). Then at the range I zeroed it in four shots (at 50 yds) It was initially off only 1 inch in elevation, about 4 inches to the left. After I got a tight group of 5 on target, I cranked up the elevation to check it- I had drawn a line on my IPSC target with a bubble level then used that on my AR on a sandbag. The hits climbed right up the line as expected per my Sierra Infinity Windows Phone app. I then set the dials to this new zero per the instructions, was easy and great to have the zero indicated, as the old scope did not have this feature. I've only shot it out to 300 so far, but the bright Mil "tree" reticle made it easy to repeat hits on a...
