Excellent LPK

Written on Nov 10, 2024

I have used this kit in nearly 20 AR builds. Mostly because it is a complete kit, minus grip. But, equally because of the quality of these parts, and the fact that the trigger in these kits is of consistently high quality, as well. Most of the people who I have installed these for, including myself, find the trigger takeup, break, and reset, well within the expectations for use in both competition, and combat.. without resorting to a high end $200+ boutique trigger. And, it doesn't hurt that you're buying a kit with visually matching parts.

Midwest Industries Upper Receiver Rod

Written on Nov 10, 2024

Upon receiving and unboxing, I found that this had an awesomefit and finish to it. Very well machined. I had ordered this one, because I sent my Real Avid unit to my son, overseas. It went into the upper receiver assembly very smoothly, but almost a "tight fit". Pretty much ZERO rotational movement. A definite plus to using this is it makes the torque readings from the torque wrench, easier to attain, and more accurate. I've also trashed a few upper receivers just torquing the barrels in by hand, without this tool. Buying this item is money well spent.

Awesome for the money.. it IS a "Leupold"!

Written on Jun 19, 2021

I purchased the 180093 model. I largely agree with BDC's assessment of this sight. I jumped at purchasing this, before COMPLETELY inspecting it, because it is a Leupold, and it appeared to have filled my mission requirements of it. That said, the reflective coating on the objective is negative impact for tactical use. This SHOULD have COME with a Tenabraex Killflash, screw in objective cover, for that reason. Second; The 34mm objective bell makes you believe it has a much larger field of view than it actually has. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, because I was taught to use the Bindon Eye Concept, almost exclusively. However, if you elect to implement a flip up magnifier with this sight, it may become an issue, if you are forced to shoot with only your scope eye. Third; I only read HERE that this sight is advertised as a "hunting sight". So, the tactical options were not implemented on this sight for that reason. The problem is that this would be an AWESOME combat/tactical/competition sight, if it had those options. Fourth; it would have been nice if the AR mount had been designed with throw lever QD. Fifth; The reticle lighting system IS a pain in the a$$ to cycle through. Sixth; "shake awake" would have been a nice addition to this sight, as well. The optics and glass are as clean as my IOR Valdada Pitbull, and Schmidt and Bender glass.. as expected for a Leupold product. All things being equal, if you've got good enough eyes, this sight would be (IMHO) better than Leupol

Best upgrade of its kind, & worth every penny

Written on Mar 07, 2021

Out of all the aftermarket handgrips, for ARs, on the market, Ergo's ErgoGrip is simply the best. I've been putting these grips on both, purchased rifles, and new builds, since I first found them, in the early 2000s. Even purchased them for use on my FAL builds. The only thing that even comes close was the, now discontinued, Pachmyre Magnum revolver grip, adapted for use on the AR. I recently had a package delivered, where the grip was missing the bottom end cap. The distributor couldn't replace the cap, because they didn't stock them seperately. I contacted Ergo directly. They had a replacement cap/plug in the mail, the next day.

Fixes ALL the issues operators have with standard charging handles.

Written on Mar 05, 2021

Over the years, I've used, or owned, pretty much every "tactical latch" for ARs, on the market. While they fixed the particular issue of gloved fingers slipping off the latch handle, it only did so for the left finger hold of the latch. The Raptor ambi charging handle, smoothly facilitates an equalized, two finger, pull of the charging handle.. straight back. Zero slip. I'd something that you purchase doesn't do exactly what you purchased it to do, it doesn't matter how much, or how little money you spent on it.. you wasted your money. No disappointment here. Even at nearly $100, this part is worth the purchase.

Very high quality, customized LPK kit.

Written on Mar 05, 2021

This is a very high quality LPK. But, functionally, not much different than, say, a mil spec Aero LPK. I have installed these in four lowers, so far. The fit and finish with these parts, is excellent. Like others have stated, the ambi selector has no instructions. So, you need to test fit the parts, before final assembly. I put a dab of blue locktite on the selector screws, to ensure they didn't shoot loose.

This is a rock solid rail option, for a rail gas block build

Written on Mar 02, 2021

I've used this particular rail handguard on quite a few Adams Arms piston rifle builds. I have always opted for the railed gas blocks. So the options for free float handguards for these builds is kinda sparse. The biggest plus for these handguards, with this build, is the fact that they are two piece. They mount to a stock barrel nut, over a fully assembled upper. The second plus with these, is that they mount "rock solid". Once locked on to the upper, it's THERE, till you go to remove it. It'll physically break before it moves. The ONLY druther with this handguard is the fact that it is a solid, 4 rail unit. ..with all the weight that goes along with that. Not the hot ticket for a race gun. But, IMHO, definitely the handguard to have for a sport utility, law enforcement, or combat rifle.

Very well designed

Anyone NOT liking this forward grip, bought it for the wrong reasons. I purchased this, because I REALLY liked the controllability of the FN P90, as a PDW. This forward grip gives the same controllability and handling characteristics to AR15s, or any weapon with a lower front rail. I did have to loosen up all the screws on this thing, to get it to slide down the rail. But, once in place, it locked down solidly. This works well with a 16" barrel. But, it would really shine on an SBR or designated PDW.

Good, but could be better.

I REALLY liked the concept of the adjustable cheek piece, on this stock. The only druther comes with the fact that, even at its lowest setting, the cheekpiece does not line your eye up with AR15 co-witness sight level. I like to run my sights and scopes as close to barrel line as possible. And the cheekpiece simply does not meet that objective. That said, EVERY other parameter of fitment, and operation of this stock, is top notch. With the proper adaptor pieces in place, this stock fits and operates as tightly and smoothly on the mil spec buffer tube, as my Magpul UBR stock, on my H-bar Dissipator. One of the reasons I chose this stock was it kinda balanced out the front weight of a 16" gas piston barrel, with a full quad rail forearm. Having to remove the cheekpiece, threw the balance forward again. Not a big deal, since that's par for the course with most gas piston ARs anyway. I will say that I like the way the particularly angled butt pad feels on my shoulder, in use. I like it better than my Magpul MOE stocks. And, again, a LOT less rattly. This is an excellent stock for a combat, home defense, or CQB weapon. Not really the hot ticket for serious competition shooting, or benchrest. Would seriously buy one of these again, without the cheekpiece. If a guy could fit a lower rise snap on comb/cheekpiece on this stock, it would be a "go to upgrade", IMHO.
