Nice Quality Scope - just one issue

Written on Feb 22, 2020

First let me say this is a "Very Good" scope for its price point range of from 100 to 150 street price. It is small and light with a solid build feel to it, smooth magnification adjustment with just enough tension. The objective is not too big and the eyepiece and mag ring is slim and not overly large so you can mount it low to the rifle and avoid many of the bolt clearance issues when cycling a bolt action rifle. The scope is bright and clear thru the magnification range, with slight degradation at 8-9x but better than most other scopes in this price range up to the low 200.00 range. The crosshair is not too thick but shows up well for hunting purposes, maybe a little heavy for pure target work but ok overall a nice balance. The adjustments for elevation and windage are low profile and finger adjustable with a positive feel, under caps. The PROBLEM IMO is the eyebox when looking thru the scope is "tight - very sensitive" to your head placement and movement at all magnifications especially so in upper range from 6x up. This would be a definite issue when hunting when a fairly quick shot has to be made and a forgiving eyebox is much appreciated. For target shooting this may be a non-issue depends on your tolerance to this scopes paricular trait, for me this was the deal breaker and I will be returning this scope. I will be keeping my Weaver V7, too bad they have decided to discontinue the Weaver line especially the "V" series they were great little scopes! Hope this helps.

Good looking Black Hat.

Written on Feb 02, 2020

What can you say about a hat. This is a nice black hat that has some style, the silver stiching and logo are done nicely and look good not overdone. The rear section of the hat has mesh which helps your head breath. Front of hat with logo is not too high and has good stiffness. For under 10 bucks its a really good deal. Had some discount going when I bought it which saved me another 1.50, can't go wrong with that! Use it as a filler on your order to get you over the 49 dollar min. for free shipment.

Good Keychain light or tiny pocket light

Written on Dec 28, 2018

Throw it in my front pocket of my pants so small do not even know it is there, solidly built for such a small light, aluminum housing. do not expect a lot of light, just enough light to help you out when needed for simple tasks in the dark and no other light is available. A simple twist of the front bezel turns it on and off, nothing fancy just a good tiny light!

Small,Powerful beam, Solid build quality.

Written on Dec 08, 2018

Mounted on WaltherPPQM2,nice fit maybe extends 1/8 inch past muzzle very low profile light adds just enough weight to give nice balance to gun when loaded, cuts down on muzzle rise a bit. Light beam is bright but not blinding good balance between not enough and too much, nice white color to beam not yellow or blue like some other lights. Has good hot spot at center but bleeds out well toward the sides for good overall vision. Aluminum housing is nice seems solid compared to some of the plastic ones out there. Light activation is by pressing down on either activation switch, IMO like this better than the push in type, does not throw off my sight picture with side to side movement and also helps with muzzle flip by keeping pressure down, this is a matter of personal preference. Would have given 5 stars but am not sure of the lifespan on the rechargeable battery which is not replaceable, magnetic charging cable is a nice touch and so is the small power level status light built in side of unit. Holds a good length charge, same or close to the replacement battery type of unit at least right now? Only time will tell if this light is as good as it seems to be initially, past 3 months, but at under $80.00 sometimes less on sale it appears to be an excellent light for the price almost to good to be true, but only time will tell. Hope this helps.

Solid little Mount

Written on Mar 16, 2018

Used this mount on a Holosun HS503GU after the supplied Holosun (low mount) crossbolt screw broke after less than fifty rounds fired. It is a known problem in their mounts, but the Holosun RedDot optic itself is excellent by the way and reasonably priced for what you get, but the supplied mount is fragile. The AIMPOINT mount fits perfectly with the 503GU and looks like it was made for it, very solid. It adds maybe a 1/16 inch of height over the stock mount but the quality is so much better, but you pay for it, along with the peace of mind that comes with its build quality. It attaches to the optic exactly the same as the stock mount so no issues with install.

Good Scout scope for money, has Plus points and Cons.

Written on Feb 12, 2018

Bought for a lightweight Ruger1022 Takedown build. also looked at Leopold VXII 2.5x and Weaver 4X scout scopes. The Burris worked for my build better than the others for three reasons, primarily the longer and more forgiving eye relief (extra 3 to 4 inches), lighter weight and shorter length. My particular build used a Volquartson Light Carbon fiber bull barrel with cantilevered mount on barrel and a Magpul X22 backpacker stock. By reversing the mount on the barrel I was still able to keep the takedown length of the Ruger Magpul X22 combination to under 20 inches, with the scope mounted directly over the barrel. With the scope that far forward the extra eye relief of the Burris scope was needed and having the scope mounted to the barrel removed any variation in zero when the Ruger was taken down and then reassembled. The CONS: of the Burris scope are the Glass is good not great, same or better than the Weaver a little under the Leopold, and the field of view is less than the other two. The turret adjustments are not real positive in feel, have to be careful when doing your adjustments, they are accurate when doing the box but a little "soft mushy". For my purposes on a 22LR that will rarely see shots over 100 yards the Glass and field of view of the Burris is more than I will ever need, and the turret adjustments are OK for my use with the gun sighted in for 50 yards there will be minimal corrections needed in actual use. For UNDER 300.00 dollars If your need is for a long

Nice quality Torgue Wrench

Written on Dec 14, 2017

Tool is of a higher quality, good solid feel, easy to use. Includes several useful push in bits and drivers. Gives a positive slip break over when set torque is reached. Comes with a verified test sheet showing the performance of tool before it leaves the factory, nice quality touch gives you confidence in the tool. Highly recommended for the money, much easier to use than the beam type Torque Wrench.

excellent quality - solid but small

Written on Nov 20, 2017

Bought this mount to go along with the X22 Backpacker takedown stock to mount a Holosun Red dot. Worked perfectly with stock the fit was exceptional and mount was solid and low to barrel. Easily clears stock barrel profile and will clear a .920 bull barrel. ONLY ISSUE is the actual length of the mounting surface is limited. You can really only mount a small micro red dot like the size of a Holosun 503 or an Accupoint H-1 or T-1 with single cross bolt clamp. A larger optic such as one of the Prism sights that uses a double cross bolt clamp system I do not believe will work as there are only 3 slots on this rail, you would need a forth.
Length of rail side slots are only 1.5 inch as I said perfect for the Micro red dots but not for anything much larger. Hope this helps.

Excellent design and quality

Written on Oct 25, 2017

Fit and finish was great, MAGPUL quality all the way. Much better than the garbage stock supplied by Ruger for the 1022 takedown. The design was well thought out and inventive holds the barrel in its stored position securely and protects the chamber from damage with the large rubber insert at the heal of the stock. The two storage areas, one in the handgrip an other in the butt of the stock are very useful and secure. Quality of the material used on the stock, some sort of plastic has a solid textured feel, so much better than the Ruger supplied stock. Handgrip angle is also much better, as is the larger buttplate which has a nice rubber pad. If you have a 1022 takedown this stock is well worth the price. Highly recommended.
