This stock significantly improved the shooting experience with my PTR91. Since there’s no dip in the Spuhr stock, recoil is transferred in a straight line into the shoulder, giving me greater control. Additionally, with the rail welded on my PTR91, the Spuhr stock puts my eye comfortably in line with an optic on an American Defense Manufacturing QD mount. Finally, the adjustability of this stock to should help most people find a length of pull that is comfortable to them.

That said, there are a few considerations to take into account. They weren’t deal-breakers for me, but keep them in mind:
-You probably won’t be able to use your iron sights with this mount due to the height of the cheek pad.
-The price definitely stings a bit, and when I started looking for one, availability was limited.
-The instructions are rather minimal, and I had to locate an HK parts list to reference a part number. I couldn’t find any detailed assembly videos online at the time of installation. Also, if you’re installing an HK extended buffer, there’s a washer-like piece that I found to be irritating to get properly aligned in the tube of the stock.

The concept of this trigger really interested me: the curved upper section being beneficial for a fast shot under stress and the straight lower portion being more appropriate for a more precise shot. The pull weight is good: not too light and not too heavy. I dropped it in a rifle that previously had a BCM PNT trigger in it and saw average pull weight drop just over a pound. However, I went back to the BCM PNT because I got a more consistent, predictable break. Also, the BCM trigger is cheaper at time of writing. The Hiperfire isn’t bad, but my opinion is that there are better options at or below this price point. That said, Hiperfire’s included drift pins do simplify installation, and I wish every manufacturer included something similar with their aftermarket triggers!

I got this sight because I was wanted to see the difference between Sig’s product and a Holosun 503G that I had. Looking back on my time with each, I’d pick Sig for a budget Red/Green dot sight, although it can be at the pricier end of budget. The sight housing feels quite sturdy. Reliability has been 100%. While the design initially looked strange to me, the variety of lines has grown on me and makes it a good-looking option for a variety of platforms. The dot itself looks crisp through the glass and is plenty bright for me. I got the green dot version, and the triangle does do a good job of drawing the eye to the dot quickly. Some people may feel like that triangle and dot cover up too much, so you can toggle between different combinations of the dot and or triangle. I also love that it runs on one AAA battery, since a replacement is so easy to come by. I’ve never had any issues with the battery cap coming loose, either, which I can’t say for some other sights I’ve tried.

I purchased this in 7.62 x 39 to reduce the amount of ammo I would need to use zeroing a new optic on an AK variant. I zeroed my optic with the bore sight in, ejected the bore sight, and then decided to put the bore sight back in to double-check my work. I’m glad I did, since I got a different point of aim on the second try. I tried removing the bore sight and putting it back in a few times, and I got a different point of aim each time. I’m left to wonder if something in my sample isn’t perfectly aligned. I ultimately settled on a point that seemed the most centered result in terms of windage from the various readings I was getting, which was at least good enough to put me on paper with ammo at 50 yards. I’m disappointed I had this inconsistency, since another SightMark bore sight I have in 5.56 x 45 has been completely reliable.

I picked up one of the to put on my Romanian M10 build. If you have a gas block front sight on your AK variant, this can be a good way to restore some of your sight radius, if paired with matching rear sight from Texas Weapon Systems. Otherwise, if you’re mounting any type of optic, this railed dust cover might be an advantage over an optics side mount if you have a folding stock. While I don’t have a side mount to weigh, I suspect this railed dust cover comes out lighter than the total weight of using many combinations of standard dust covers and side mounts for optics. Installation of the railed dust cover does take a minute, especially if you haven’t knocked an AK rear sight loose before, but don’t let that scare you off from this excellent mounting solution.

I’ve gotten a good amount of use out of my Juliet 4 over the last 2 years. With it’s quick detach mount, I have swapped it among different weapons. I’ve put it behind an Holosun HS530G, a Vortex UMG UH-1, and a Sig Romeo 5 at various points, and I experienced no problems with any of the combinations. I can’t say that the it’s the cheapest magnifier, but I feel that price is definitely reasonable for the quality magnifier. Also, while there are plenty of 3x magnifiers available, it’s nice to have a 4x option for that extra bit of magnification. Aside from the price, my only other complaint is that I wish this came with some sort of soft cover I could put over the whole magnifier to cover both lenses. That said, the flip-up lens cover on the back has a clear window, so you don’t necessarily have to flip up the cap, which is a nice touch. The flip-to-the-side mount feels sturdy and the hinge doesn’t move around at all on it’s own. All in all, this magnifier impressed me with what I got for my money.

A lot of the time you wouldn’t need a jam nut while installing a muzzle device on an AK build. However, if you’re working on a build where the front sight is shifted back onto the gas block instead of at the end of the barrel, then this jam nut is great. I ordered the 14x1 LH jam nut, and I haven’t had any movement of the muzzle device it’s snugged up against. On thing I want to mention is that the photo here looks lighter than the color of the nut I received. I went off the description and was happy to see it is has a nice dark finish that blends in well with my muzzle device and barrel.

I had this on one of the early-import Stribogs (i.e. one brought in by Eagle Imports with a reciprocating bolt). Like the factory end-cap, this fits very snuggly. I experienced no wobble or rattle of the adaptor whatsoever. Buffer-tube mounted braces are plentiful and varied, so this adaptor gives you a lot of options if you’re not interested in the side-folding Picatinny-mounted options or collapsing braces built directly on their own replacement end-caps. I use this a lot with an SBA3 brace and had no complaints.

The Leapers UTG Recon Flex M-Lok Bipod is a great deal. I’ve shot with it on my AR for most of the year, and it offers a convenient, stable platform. One you tighten the legs at desired length with their dials, they’re locked much more steadily than I honestly expected. The only reservation I have in recommending this bipod is the length of the legs. Once these legs are mounted at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of your rail system, there isn’t a ton of height below the barrel, even with the legs at their maximum lenght. With the legs fully extended in the vertical position, you’ll have to tip the muzzle down to load a 30-round magazine into an AR. Once you have that magazine in, the length of the legs won’t give you much room to tip the muzzle above parallel with the surface the gun is resting on. My recommendation is either use a 10-round magazine, or look at other bipod designs that mount under your rail system at the 6 o’clock position. However, if you’re looking for a compact system and don’t need a whole lot of clearance under your rifle, or you hate having your bipod take up your underside rail space, this might be the bipod for you.

I purchased the Holosun HS503G as my first optic for my first rifle. With its ACSS reticle, this a great sight you can grow into as you get more confident at longer ranges, especially if paired with a magnifier. The auto-on/off feature based on motion is also a very addition. Finally, the horseshoe is great at helping you more quickly acquire the dot, but it’s really nice to have the option to turn it on or off to conserve your battery.
