Solid thumb rest

Written on Dec 05, 2024

I bought this and installed it. Installation was relatively simple and the ergonomics suits my hands well (medium-large sized gloves) and feels natural to utilize.

You can absolutely see a difference with getting back on target more quickly than without it. I would use standard power recoil springs however as lower power springs may dip the muzzle lower because of the extra leverage you're getting from the thumb rest.

The only complaint I have which is to be known when installing any part that hangs off the side of your pistol is holsters may not work. There is a list of holster makers from Align'a website that support this thumb rest. Fits my Safariland lvl 3 retention holsters fine however. It can also be a possible snag hazard but I've not noticed anything getting snagged on it.

Solid construction too. It feels like steel, not aluminum.

Nice optic, anodized tan like their USSOC RMR

Written on Jun 06, 2024

Not as durable as the mighty RMR but the SRO is still using a forged 7075 aluminum housing, opposed to machined billet or MIM like most other optics are made. The color is almost exactly the same shade as my RMR USSOC which is anodized tan and I'm assuming it's anodized the same way. They call it coyote brown but it's more of a bronze or darker FDE. It looks great either way.

Trijicon is U.S.A. made with an incredible warranty. I have confidence Trijicon will take care of me if ANYTHING happens to the optic. I don't get that same feeling from my optics that end with -son.

Expensive, large but worth it

Written on Jun 05, 2024

This is hands down the best pistol light on the market. 1,000 lumen, low candela lights are fine but if you want the most durable light, U.S.A. made, high candela pistol light X300 turbos are the way to go. Yes it has a large footprint, yes it's expensive but holster compatibility, industry leading candela and confidence in the company makes this a light you'll own for the rest of your life. Streamlight are fine lights, Olights have worked for me, Modlite is great but I always wish I had X300 turbos on all my pistols. If you catch this on sale you can find this for sub $250 like I did. I've also paid $330 and still don't regret it. This is my 6th X300 turbo and I'll probably buy more.

Expensive but works

Written on Apr 25, 2024

This is my 3rd Ramjet/Afterburner I've purchased. Let's get something out of the way. Does it cost a lot? Yes and no. A threaded barrel and comp will still cost the average person $250-$300. Not all comps time well with all threaded barrels so there's some trial and error there. Any micro comp (Agency Sage comp and PMM Micro comp) are either the same price or more expensive, around that $400 price mark. So it's well within the same price range as other similar products on the market.

Does it reduce recoil? Yes it does. You'll only feel a difference when shooting drills working on your split times or are testing 115 range ammo from 124 NATO , +p or +p+. You won't see a big difference if you go to Fudd ranges of 1 shot per second, no rapid fire, and aren't utilizing what it's designed for. Faster follow up shots from reduced recoil.

It's well designed and looks aesthetically pleasing. The design is well thought out. One thing I'd like to mention is the "tear drop" barrel design is no longer used. I have 2 models. A generation 1 which automatically times due to the tear drop barrel and one that's not and the comp spins freely. Radian states they change the design due to people getting carbon lock. I think it's BS as I've shot 1,500 rounds without cleaning and haven't experienced carbon lock. They did this to save money. Hands down, it costs less to machine a round barrel and comp rather than a tear drop shaped barrel. The 2nd generation still works but I personally feel like i

Best optic plate for the MOS

Written on Jan 06, 2024

This is the 2nd Guardian and Six optic plate and sights I've purchased. I've owned CHP, FCD, and now this optic plate. The Guardian hands down, is the best optic plate I've used. Insanely durable, best mounting mechanism for an optic and the Six sights are fantastic and low profile compared to suppressor height sights which I typically used before using the Guardian. Absolutely worth every bit of $200ish imho. It's expensive but everything from the fasteners to sights and optic plate are high tier quality.

Its the best Vortex RDS/holographic available

Written on Dec 17, 2023

I know people complain about this optic but I don't know what their eyes are like or if they've used a holographic before. Those things do matter. I have mild astigmatism and I also own 2 of these UH-1s, buying another and 2 Eotech EXPS2/3s. Can I say it's better than an Eotech? No. Is the UH-1 a stellar optic? Yes. Is it cheaper than an Eotech? Yes, over $100 compared to EXPS3-0. Are there pros and cons compared to each other? Yes.

Eotech: clearer glass, cooler name, slightly more durable, better under night vision
Vortex: better reticule, longer battery life (maybe 10-15% longer), less money, better warranty, cooler looking (imo)

This isn't an Eotech killer. Just another quality option of optic and seeing there are really only 2 holographics on the market, I think this is a decent competitor. The glass is better on the Eotech and so is the refresh rate but that's an issue with all Vortex RDS products. The anodized coating does scuff a lot easier too which is one of my main complaints with the UH-1 not that I'm keeping it be pretty.

There seems to be camps that either love or hate this optic. I would recommend seeing one in person if you really have doubts but I buy a lot of Gucci-esqe kit and I continue to buy these UH-1s because I think they're great optics for the $500ish price range.

Nice rack for multiple rifle owner

Written on Oct 27, 2023

Easy to assemble with no tools required. This rack will hold full length carbines and rifles on both sides too. I would highly recommend to anyone with multiple carbines and rifles that's looking for a display or storage solution with no mounting to a wall. Holds the weight well and after months of use the paint and structure has held up well.

Great on an OEM G19.5 MOS

Written on Sep 26, 2023

Put this on a G19.5 MOS and it fits like a glove. Fit, finish, function, and packaging all top notch. Is it expensive? Yes, but I can honestly see a difference in recoil and compared the PMM micro and Agency's micro comp/barrel combos, it's right on par with the price point.

tailcap that feels solid

Written on Nov 28, 2022

The momentary on feature feels deliberate, unlike other tailcaps I've used. Clicky feels solid, tactile feel and click. Fit and finish are what you'd expect from Surefire, although the finish is a bit shinier than tailcaps. It's an inexpensive option if you're not looking to spend another $100-$200 on a pressure pad set up.

Great rail, awesome price

Written on Nov 28, 2022

One of the better values I've purchased with handguards. These are also compatible with the titanium barrel nuts from MI. Everything is really solid from lock up to the anti rotation to the fit and finish. Even comes with a 5 slot mlok picatinny adapter.
