Extraordinary instrument!
I ordered this as a Christmas present to replace a Celestron Omni 120XLT refractor. I'm very pleased with its clarity, ease of use, and construction. The ability to use the SkyPortal app makes this a winner and no-brainer if you want to learn the sky without use setting circles. I had a NexStar 8se many years ago, and this scope is much more solid.
The 63-pound package arrived in perfect condition, and as promised (I paid for expedited shipping).
Very pleased with my purchase.
Celestron Evolution
Great job by Optics Planet. Item was in great shape and the delivery time was as promised. The transaction was smooth after discussions the product with their online help. The evolution mount was a great upgrade and I was lucky to find this item they Optics Planet when there is a shortage of astronomical equipment available.

Great Telescope, Service & Price!
Ordered via the Internet with the good assistance of a sales rep who also assisted with the selection & the price. Prompt shipping, fairly good instructions, and easy setup in about 45-minutes, which allowed viewing the same evening. Always wanted a telescope to view the heavens and the NexStar Evolution 8" certainly fits the bill. Now all I need to do is drop a few trees which I need to do to increase my currently limited viewing area. We live on a mountain top in Western NC, so once the close-in trees are down, I should be able to take full advantage of the telescope, it's 8" glass & it's computer pointing/ guidance system thru my iPad - can't wait!

Amazing Scope!
Great scope and easy to use. After unboxing everything, I had it ready to go outside and see the stars in around 10-15 mins. Very sturdy, and feels solid. Download the Celestron SkyPortal app and you can connect and align it within 5 mins. I also recommend picking up a Barlow lens that will double the magnification of the eyepieces that come with the Evo8. OpticsPlanet had the best price for this scope on the internet...$100 cheaper than any other site. Highly recommend!

Great product and excellent service from Optics Planet
The Evolution 8 has a perfect combination of features. The on-board battery and built in wi-fi are crucial additions. These features and the robust mount make the price premium over other 8" scopes more than reasonable. This is a quality, well made product delivered in robust foam and thick cardboard packaging. Optics Planet offered the best price available. Make use of their offer to discuss prices with one of the sales reps either by phone or chat. The standard free shipping was fast and more than adequate. Everything about the transaction was great, the product is excellent,...couldn't be happier.

Awesome scope!
Awesome is the only word that fits. I've never encountered so advanced a telescope that was so easy to set up and use, it's effortless! The ONLY problem I encountered was getting the tripod to the correct height to do a good alignment but that issue was solved with the addition of Celestron's Starsense Autoalign. No more stooping over to use the included red dot finder scope. The built in battery and Wi-Fi are something I've waited a long time for and I look forward to getting a lot of use out of this scope! My advice? Buy it, it's well worth the money!

Great Scope
I received the NexStar Evolution 8 as a gift from my Brother in Ohio on Jaunary 21, 2015. Thanks Greg! I can not speak highly enough about the construction of the Scope, mount and tripod - Excellent! I expect nothing less from Celestron. I am using the app SkySafari 4 plus on my android phone and have no problem connecting to the scope's wifi. Objects are clear and awesome looking through any eyepiece I use. The only issue I have is there are so few nights this time of year in NW Alabama that are clear. I can't wait for Spring! This is a scope I never thought I would be able to own. My Children, who are grown and even my two Grandsons. the few times we have been able to go out and observe, love it!
