Most Helpful Positive Review The hardware IS long enough!
IF you look at the LCS, there is a lip on the piece that the pressure pad slides into. On the side pieces that clamp the rail, there is a channel where the lip goes into. ONCE you figure that out, the hardware screws right in! I have the billet aluminum LCS's on ALL of my platforms with lights, but ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Cloud Defensive Light Control System for Streamlight ProTac Switch
Bought this new polymer version for my Streamlight HLX and it literally does not fit because the screws provided are too short to actually engage the threads on the nut. Even attempting to put it together completely off the rail of the handguard, it cannot be assembled. I have the older aluminum ver...

Junk, it's do not recommend this.

by Mike8262, from ME, United States Written on August 22, 2025
First off people saying the screws are short are wrong, I thought the same thing at first, but you have to snap the sides together to the mount, the reason I gave this 1 star and will not recommend is because it's cheap plastic and if yoi tighten the screws to much, the nuts will break right thru the plastic and come out the other side. I do not recommend this product, whish they kept the aluminum ones.

Excellent mounting system

by Sig, from NC, United States Written on August 25, 2024
The Cloud Defensive system was an excellent addition for my Streamlight ProTac switch. Securely holds switch and wire in place allowing for a nice controlled set up.
Pros:
  • Securely holds switch in place
  • Holds additional wire in place
Cons:
  • Requires a lot of patience when mounting

Absolute garbage!

by RMGBen, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on August 22, 2024
Shame on Cloud Defense for discontinuing the aluminum model of this product. Fair warning! Do not buy this plastic garbage! Set nut pops right out and they do not align correctly. I have the aluminum version from cloud defense and it’s a tank. The knock off is $25 cheaper than this plastic garbage.
Pros:
  • NONE!
Cons:
  • Cheap
  • Not functional
  • Even cheaper made

Pretty terrible having to drill out plastic

by marbs, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on July 18, 2024
Had to use a forstner bit to drill the plastic out on the screw head side. The screws as others have stated in other reviews are not long enough. They aren’t long enough before you clamp onto a rail while test fitting and especially not long enough when you are. Second hole while on the gun, I drilled trough all of the plastic before catching a thread on the nut, there was enough plastic within to keep the screw tight. It will stay on the gun until it doesn’t then I’ll look for something else, you should also look for something else
Pros:
  • Nice slot to hold pressure pad
Cons:
  • Does not assemble
Best Used for:
  • Practicing drilling

Better than zipties.

by m, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on July 5, 2024
I do prefer the aluminum version over this polymer style.
However, this is still the best way to protect your Streamlight switch and cord.
This does require a little patience to get everything together and the cord run in the groove correctly.
Well worth the price!
Pros:
  • Stronger mounting for tape switch
  • Cloud Defensive quality
Cons:
  • Finicky to mount and protect cord
Would recommend: Yes

Cloud Defensive LCS

by johnchip, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on April 30, 2024
It took me some time to put the LCS together. The screws are long enough its just takes a bit of finagling. I definitely recommend reading the instructions. It's a better mounting solution than what StreamLight offers but certainly a challenge to get it together. Think i may just get the arisaka conversion tail cap and run a surefire tap switch but i am using the LCS for now.
Pros:
  • better than StreamLight mount
Cons:
  • hard to assemble

simple and clean design, isntallation is kind of tricky

by Noah Smith, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on March 29, 2024
I believe this is probably the best mounting solution for tape switch on the protac hlx. Only thing at all that wasn’t optimal in my opinion is installation can be kind of tricky but not impossible. May just be me having an off day. Regardless I’ve put a few hundreds through rifle since mounting and have yet to experience any issue from this mount.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Installation (minor con)
