Entry Level Thermal
This is a very entry level thermal. The price is a little high for what it is, but if you can get it on discount, then I think it's a good buy. Fun to play around with and use the different functions, but I think it's really a base level thermal, but it's not several thousand dollars.

Def has its place
Before I bought this, I checked the other reviews and they are spot on, but man people are really tough to please. Here's what I liked about this product. It's LIGHT. Like crazy light. I could carry this all day in my front pocket and forget it was there. The menu is fine, no issues there. I like th...

Not there yet
Mini mountable thermals are becoming more common and accessible, so I keep trying different ones hoping to find a winner.
Sadly most of them aren't delivering in the performance aspect and to be fair it is probably because most of us have unrealistic expectations.
This thermal scanner is a useful ...

good thermal for the price
The mini thermal went on sale for $350 and i could not pass up a little thermal unit for that price. It arrived and i was happy to see how well made and packaged it was, the cr123 battery compartment is pretty solid and convenient to replace batteries. Im able to see a car driving by or a person walking just past 150 yds and havent really tried much further but was impressed with how well it worked at a distance even if you cant necessarily make out the shape far away. Only complaint is the latency is SLOW, it feels laggy if you pan with any jerky motion, and will i guess “buffer” or something every 20 or 30 seconds and freeze while it readjusts. Kind of annoying but for the fact its a thermal at the price i got it, im very happy. Also the 30mm ring compatibility is sweet!

Waste of money Stay Away
Stopped working in less than a month
Never took it outside only tested it indoors and after a couple weeks it started making a clicking sound and then got stuck on the Covert Optics startup screen and never worked again
Even when it did work the refresh rate was awful it was like watching a video with dial-up can't imagine anyone actually uses it as an optic on their weapon
Absolute waste of money
Never buy anything from Covert Optics or Armasight

It's a toy at best
I do not recommend this thermal site for real-world use. It's meant to be something fun for a kid but it is not up to par or hunting or surveillance. It would get you killed and a tactical situation.
Best Used for:
- Toys

Thermal imaging
It will work as a weapon site but it is more suited to finding downed game. The scene is to small to react in a hurry or track as targets move swiftly. It really shines searching for a potential target or could be used for search and rescue of persons.
Pros:
- good price
Cons:
- Small field of view

returning mine.
After reading the reviews and watching what videos I could find I decided to go out on a limb and purchase this little guy. Im not sure if I got a lemon or if they are all this grainy. I cant determine what I'm looking at only feet away. Also the system freezes every few seconds for a second or two which makes having the reticle almost entirely useless. The freezing gets worse the longer its on or if you are navigating the menu and ive had to remove the battery to get the system to reset. If it were only a toy and not priced where other flir devices are then it may be acceptable, but at this pricepoint the quality is way below expectation.

Exactly What I Needed
I had been looking for a compact and lightweight thermal for tracking game and this is it. This isn’t any kind of state-of-the-art high def thermal imager, but it has allowed me to have a capable thermal in my hunting load out without adding the weight/bulk of typical thermal monoculars. I haven’t mounted it to anything yet, but the fact that I can if/when I want to with a 30mm ring is a bonus.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- compact
Cons:
- Image could be better
Best Used for:
- Game Tracking

Only good for cqc
The resolution on my agm asp is better but this has a reticle so you can use it and use a red dot on a 45 degree mount and wear your nv and have nv and thermal capability.Itll lag and freeze for a few seconds here and there and I was hoping it woulda been clesrer than my lowest line asp but it'll definitely do the job for anything less than 100 feet away.
Pros:
- Small and mounts on a scope qd.
Cons:
- Lags for a few seconds at a time, low resolution
Best Used for:
- close quarters

Lagging / poor battery life
Initially excited about the ability to throw a 30mm ring on the tube and have a backup if needed. Quickly realized the limited use of this optic, at higher brightness levels the battery life plummets to minutes. The interface is extremely lagging compared to comparable scanners in the Flir or AGM lines in terms of price. Spend your money on another scanner.
