Great product, yes, you get what you pay for.
I have had this unit now for about a month and I love it. I find it very easy to use, very clear images, and it does all it is advertised to do. I have read other reviews that say the images are fuzzy. I do not find thi at all. Maybe the instructions were not read and the diopter adjuster was not us...

If Only Staff knew about this
I wanted to know if it had a tripod mount. Brochure & Photos don't show.
-Optics Planet Sales didn't know.
-FLIR Sales line said "I think so, but don't know".
I risked it and ordered it. Turns out the unit does.
The Scout is a nice unit. My first foray into thermal. It's well built and undenia...

After 3 years of use, is dead, send it to Flir, and they jusy want you to buy a new one, reconsider!
I wanted to share my disappointment with the lifespan of this device. Despite taking meticulous care, using it for only about three months a year, never dropping it, never leaving it exposed to the elements overnight it has failed after just four years. Considering I spent thousands of dollars on it, this is deeply frustrating.
To make matters worse, your only solution is for me to spend thousands more on a replacement. For a device that costs this much, lasting less time than a toaster or sandwich maker is simply unacceptable and quite telling about the product’s quality and your company reputation.
The only thing left for me to do is to be vocal about it, and prevent people to make the same mistake I made.

Just what I needed
I live behind a large wild nature park where I take my 155 Lbs mastiff hiking, I go at night because he’s some what aggressive, being able to see at night is a great advantage, I can see people or animals at a good distance, the scout lll 320 is a force multiplier that kicks butt, I highly recommend it.
Pros:
- Small, fast, easy, light
Cons:
- Pricy, but worth it.

OK but not as good as the competition
I have had first hand experience with several sub $2k thermal sights/monoculars and this one is OK but not on par with its competition. Clarity is adequate but not great. For the money you could do better.
Pros:
- Small
- Handy
- Nice Case
Cons:
- Poor Clarity
- limited focus range
- mediocre image quality

Get the best one.
The people complaining about these units didn't get the 640 model. It works great, long battery life and amazing clarity. ..saw whiskers on the foxes in the back yard. Really enjoying the FLIR 640. The Good Stuff is worth it...never regretted buying a Nightforce scope, ACOG optics or 3rd generation night scopes...this 640 unit is of the same category.

Does the job
Not easy to spend as much as thermal units cost, but the FLIR Scout 320 unit works quite well. Very compact, easy to use (but a better explanation of some features would have been nice). Not quite the image resolution I had hoped for at distant ranges.

Managing expectations
I had used some higher end thermal imaging products before. I was trying to pick something middle of the road price-wise and that's what this unit is. Resolution is fair. Anything beyond 1X loses resolution quickly. 4X not clear at all. Not worth the extra money to have it. Overall a decent unit. Wish I had a way to compare side by side with other handhelds before making the purchase. Ordering and customer service experience was good with OP.
