The chest rig is nicely made and has good quality leather. It is comfortable, but a 6" S&W 44 Magnum is pretty heavy which can cause some upper back fatigue by pulling my chest forward. I might try wearing a back canteen / water bladder or small backpack to balance things out. I might also by a Galco hip holster for this heavy gun and see how that feels.
I might try this rig with my 4" 357 Magnum to see if the balance better with that pistol.
Pros:
- nicely made
- good leather
- generally comfortable
Cons:
- heavy pistol on chest can cause back fatigue
Best Used for:
- hunting
- hiking
- with backpack or water bladder as counter weight

I like this because quality of the item is very good. Also chest holster is very comfortable with heavy revolver. At first there was a little work to make adjusts of the holster but when you notice right way to carry holster it is very comfortable. Nice choice to carry different way than hip carry!'

I'm very pleased with the shoulder holster. I am a 160# 5'8 guy with no hips, so belt holsters and tool belts are restricting to wear. I bought this specifically for a 6" Ruger GP100 in .357, and that means it also fits my Colt Python of the same size. I can sit with it, walk with it, drive with it, ride an atv with it, wear my backpack and even work with it on. I like wearing it on one shoulder versus across the neck because the barrel doesn't bulge out of the jacket at the increased downward angle. Previously I had a nylon vertical shoulder holster that clipped to the belt on either side which made it hardly better than a belt holster. With little walking it would migrate down on the weighted side and up on the other. This holster does not migrate, I have logged many miles in a few weeks. It is very well made. It has full coverage for the trigger guard which is important to me. I do wish they incorporated an adjustable retention strap for the hammer. It was a shame to do but through bolted a one inch spacer for a barrel stop. Not only does this make the retention strap tight on the hammer but it also keeps the adjustable sight from riding on the holster rim. Om a side note it fits the Python even better with the 1" plug because the hammer is longer and curved. I did add a few more holes on the shoulder strap to wear it during the summer. Besides that I tied lacing through a few holes as a safety check like on a rifle sling. If you are looking at this just do i...

Excellent product Fits perfect and comfortable. Craftsmanship is top notch!! Adjustable to fit me or my son and keeps my revolver snug and secured. Stitching looks really sturdy and neat along with the straps. Would highly recommend this holster.

Very well constructed and quality leather. Redhawk model 5032- 4.2” fits perfectly, and rides comfortably. I bought it with fishing/ backpacking in mind and works well for that. It’s possible with minor adjustments to wear it more to the side of your body instead of directly in front as pictured. Kind of keeps it out of the way and while not quite “concealed”, it’s fairly unnoticeable under a fishing vest.

Exactly what I was looking for, a shoulder rig to keep my gun secure, easily accessed and out of the way during hiking and fishing. Your gun is useless if you can't access it when you need it and this rig does the job. Weight is distributed on your shoulders, making it comfortable to carry. Highly recommend to anyone considering a shoulder rig.

Great holster from a company that makes excellent high quality products. Fits well and is easy to put on and take off. Great for hiking, backpacking, fishing in streams, or to simply have your firearm in a position to draw quickly when needed, such as during a bear attack. I highly recommend.

Before I switched to 10mm for a woods gun I used this with my Ruger super red hawk Alaskan in 44 mag the fit was great held the revolcer very well. I never dropped my gun on a hike or a hunt unless I forget to clip the retention strap back to hold the revolver. The holster is very adjustable to any body frame I’m a larger guy and got it to fit me just right. Glaco makes great quality products and this is no exception. They only negative about the holster is that the smell of the leather takes over anything you put it in like a case or a drawer but in a small area you will never lose it.
Pros:
- Great quality, sturdy if you were killed by a bear they could drag you out by this holster
Cons:
- Very fragrant I thought it was a pleasant aroma but others may not
Best Used for:
- Hunting, hiking, camping, carrying a big revolver for long periods of time

Whether carrying concealed in your vehicle or while exercising your open carry rights wearing heavy cold weather gear, the Great Alaskan Shoulder system provides quick and easy access to your firearm if the need arises. The variable adjustments of the rig allow for a custom fit. Your weapon will be held secure, without discomfort during assorted activities. Quality materials and quality construction helped make this purchase worthwhile. My second Galco Great Alaskan Shoulder system should be shipping soon!
