I looked at other options but kept coming back to this. Yes it cost a lot more than the competitors but made working in vice easy and didn’t mar or scrap finish

The geissele Reaction Block is well engineered & produced to the highest standards, like all Geissele products. It is not inexpensive but I guarantee you will get your money's worth over the long haul!!! It is sturdy and functions as described...

If you plan on doing alot of builds this is worth every dollar. It makes castle nut torqueing and staking very easy. It also makes installing the pistol grip a breeze along with most of the lower parts.

If you are happy having a crooked buffer tube when torquing the castle nut then this isn't for you. If you're only going to be building one rifle maybe this isn't for you. But... if you work on a lot of AR15s this is a must for a perfectly aligned buffer tube to lower receiver. This tool or a similar one to hold the buffer tube will prevent that last tiny bit of rotation when applying torque. If you are a detailed oriented builder/machinist, fabricator then you know what I am talking about.
Cons:
- maybe expensive for single use
Best Used for:
- lots of builds or when only perfect results will do.

I was completing two new rifle builds and wanted to upgrade my tools. OP had the Reaction Block on sale and after looking at some reviews on YouTube, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did! It was perfect for the trigger install and trigger guard install (using the Wheeler Guard Install Kit), as well as my Troy ambi magazine and bolt release lever. I could position the buffer tube and lower at 90 degrees, which made working on different parts of the lower much easier. The screws on top are polymer, but they held up well and didn't scratch the tube. I still used my vise block for some of the work on my lower, but the Reaction Block got a lot of use as well!
FIVE STARS!

Bought this to properly torque castle nuts and also a stable platform to stake. You could do it without this tool but this makes it so much easier and keeps from damaging your receiver extension. I highly recommend this very well built tool.

Geissele AR15 Reaction Block is a great tool for assembling a lower reliever. The block holds the buffer tube in 4 different positions, 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. Buffer is held tight with nylon screws to prevent marring the tube finish. When assembling the buffer tube the reaction block puts the stress on the tube and not the lower receiver, this allows the use of greater force when torquing the castle nut down and when staking in place. The 4 positions allow for greater control when in stalls by the lower parts kit giving that third hand that is need when starting till pins. I have assemble multiple lower before getting this, but the ones after getting the tool went together a bit quicker.

This is a must have for serious gunsmiths or builders. I learned about this from William Larson at a class he was teaching. Now I have one and no headaches when building rifles. Thanks for getting this to me in a very quick fashion
Pros:
- keeps buffer tubes secure

BEING A MECHANIC BY TRADE I UNDERSTAND THE NECESSITY OF SPECIAL TOOLS!!! IF YOUR BUILDING OR SWAPPING PARTS ON YOUR AR-15 THIS IS A NECESSITY! DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD DO WITHOUT IT. VERY,VERY STURDY,EXCELLENT FOR CHANGING TRIGGERS,CAN POSITION EVERY 90 DEGREES.WELL WORTH THE MONEY FOR A FIRST BUILD OR EVERYDAY USE.HIGHLY,HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
