Very Pleased With Purchase: Guard Dog Shepherd-Black
*I will update this review once I've put a significant amount of hours on the carrier*
First and foremost, this plate carrier came exactly as pictured which is awesome. I really wanted a plate carrier with a quick detach cummerbund & quick detach shoulder straps. This one had all of those feat...

Poor stiching
This is my very first one and I loaded it to full capacity to open the mag pouches. I have only put it on twice. No plates yet and already it's falling apart. There's lose stitches everywhere and I am already restiching many critical areas. If your good with a needle then ya buy it.
Carrier for When it gets rough
I wanted to try this carrier out and it seems to look like it will do the job if it comes to it

shoulder straps are way to big
It seems nice, already heavy without the plates . Im a small guy and when i adjust the straps even past where im covering the quick detach clips, it still sits way to low my back. It is almost half way down my shoulder blades so thats a big no. Maybe for a guy whose over 230 pounds with a big chest it might sit correctly. Also i cant bring the lower straps in enough to take the weight off my shoulders. It really digs in and about 10 minutes of wear feels like death. Wouldnt run it even on just a range trip for fun.
Best Used for:
- range & self defence
- Getting a cup of coffee while you drive to UPS to return it

Loved it, put all plates in it & now, shoulder strap ripped
I purchased this rig about 2 years ago. Wore it at the gun range several times just to get the feel of it and prepare for battle against the NWO. Just bought 10x12 LV4 guard dog opmod plates and a pair of caliber armor 6x8 side plates. Put all 4 plates into the rig yesterday. Within 3 hours of installing plates, the left side shoulder strap tore off from the back plackard and is totally severed. Can't be re-stitched because the same thing will happen. Just a bad poor design. I'd say the total weight of the plates is about 22-23lbs. Carrier should be able to handle that but it certainly couldn't. I'm going to contact Guard Dog and see if they'll replace it. Not holding my breath
Pros:
- Lots of nice features
Cons:
- Poorly designed shoulder straps. Can't handle plate weight
Best Used for:
- Nothing combat related

Feature-rich carrier at an affordable price
I spent a while going back and forth between this carrier, the Redemption Tactical Crusader 2.0 carrier, and the Agilite Sub-Zero carrier. Aside from the fact that this carrier was the cheapest of the bunch, I liked that it included five AR mag punches as well as the admin pouches on the back. If you’re not running side plates, you can store a couple mags in the Velcro side pockets as well. The quality also seems to exceed the price. It securely holds my heavy RTS Tactical 10x12 Level III+ plates no problem. The carrier is fully adjustable to ensure a snug fit (for reference, I’m 5’10”, 185 lbs). The only drawback I’ve found was due to the thickness of the shoulder straps, it does obscure my shoulder pocket a bit when shouldering a rifle, but I’m sure this can be mitigated through training. All in all, I’m very happy with this carrier and for the price, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better option.

Excellent product
This carrier looks exactly like the picture shows and uses quality materials. The shoulder links are metal, and the side joints are a hard plastic. I have only worn it a few times and have found it to be comfortable. All of the exterior stitching is well done and rugged. I only had one problem while installing Guard Dog plates. There is a flap with Velcro straps that fold around the bottom of the plates. I really like this design, and it holds the plates steady. The issue is that this flap only has a single row of stitching. I made the mistake of pulling on it while pushing the plate in and the seam tore for about an inch before I stopped. The flap still functions because the Velcro holds it together and it's not noticeable. I would have been in trouble if I tore the whole thing off. The manufacturer should add another row of stitching to fix this problem. I installed the Guard Dog OPMOD Lvl 4 plates. They are a tight fit but with some patience and a lot of wiggling they got in fine. Other than those slight hiccups, I highly recommend this carrier.
Pros:
- Price
- Quality
- Comfort & stability
Cons:
- Lack of double stitching on inside flap

Do not buy if your size is XXL
I was concerned about a one size fits all plate carrier and when I received my Guard Dog Body Armor plate carrier these concerns were legit. I'm 6'2" 255lbs and I wear XXL shirts and jackets. This plate carrier barely fits without the plates in it! Once I added the ceramic plates, I could barely get it fastened. XXL are big on me so to say this plate carrier fits XXL is simply not true.
