Most Helpful Positive Review Just right
My thumb doesn’t seem to bend right for most mag releases. This one fits great. Easy to install. I used a plastic straw( not in California) to lift the spring clear to slide the old release out and the new Hyve unit in.

Got my extended mag release for my S&W M&P 9mm Shield along with a slide stop and some magazine base plates. Nice Upgrade

This is a nice little upgrade for the Smith & Wesson Shield. Mine is in 9mm.

It makes the magazine release more reachable, especially if you or someone with smaller hands is going to shoot your pistol.

The materials are on par with the rest of the pistol. Installation was quite easy, especially if you let YouTube guide you. It's not in the way to be engaged inadvertently, at least not for me.

I'm happy with it.

M&P Shield 9mm/.40 Cal Extended Magazine Release

Easy to install. Looks Great. Extension has nice texture & makes it easier to release without getting in the way. Seams like magazines have a more positive engagement in the pistol but does require slightly more effort to lock it in.

Faulty release button

I ordered the HYVE OD green extended release for my M&P Shield 9mm. After installed, the magazine will randomly fall out. I made sure the tensioner bar was in the correct location, and it still falls out. I put the original release back on with no issues.
Pros:
  • Looks nice

  • not safe

  • paper weight
