Until you see and handle this scope, you won’t know how small it is. It’s just 8 inches long and weighs a mere 7oz. But the real reason to get a scope like this is to fit a proportionally small 22 rifle. It fit into lowish rings on my CZ 452 and the objective bell easily cleared the barrel and the mauser style rear sight leaf. Many other rimfire scopes have a length that would not clear my rear sight - this one does easily. The view out of this scope is okay, but can’t compare to my Leupold 4x32 FX-2 which is a larger, brighter and clearer picture. I can’t seem to get used to the fine duplex reticle - it is really fine and precise. Wish this came with the wide duplex reticle.

I bought this in conjunction with the UTG pic rail and Rifleman rings on my 10/22. I haven’t shot it yet, hopefully this coming weekend if the weather holds. I like what I am able to see though.

Pros
- clear glass, great light/brightness
- reticle is crisp with sharp and thin lines that do not cover up target
- eye relief is great fit for most rifles
- lightweight and compact (perfect for small rifles)
Cons
- very expensive for a basic scope - no additional magnification settings other than 4x.
- does not come with rings/mounts
- price tag is for the brand name, not the scope technology used or additional features. A no name brand 4x scope is probably 1/10 the price.
Additional comments - Shipping from optics planet is just horrible. This took over 2 weeks to be delivered.
Cons:
- Overpriced
- Shipping
- expenisive
- Shipping company
- Shipping is super slow

This compact 4x28mm rimfire rifle scope is not available from other sources but Optics Planet still has it in inventory, with fast free shipping too! The optics are bright and clear. The reticle is very fine as stated, meant for small targets, 4x magnification is more than adequate for .22 rimfire in my humble opinion. I only wish that the crosshairs center space between the posts was a little wider as it seems to make the central area of viewing a little "busy" or crowded. The posts themselves could stand to be a little thicker to show up better in poor light, but I can live with it as is. This scope only weighs 7.0 oz on my electronic postal scale, and I measured the optimum eye relief at a generous 4.0" (by flashlight method) but with not very much flexibility shorter or longer. Overall, this is a very good, high-quality scope for lightweight rimfire rifles and I hope Leupold keeps making it. Also, I noticed that the latest generation of these Leupold fixed-power compact scopes (including the 2.5x Ultralight), has a much faster thread pitch on the scope tube focusing ring, which makes it MUCH easier to get the reticle and image focused for my eyes (I wear glasses for near sightedness). Just a fractional turn of the ocular bell after loosening the locking ring and your quickly done, no more hunting back and forth or trial and error attempts at focusing anymore. This is a huge deal and game changer for me since it used to be one of the few features I did not like abo...

This scope fills a very specific niche. I was on the hunt for a quality fixed power optic for my daughter’s savage rascal. This rifle is very small and the other 4x rimfire scopes I have looked comically large when fitted up. There are a couple of other options out there but I dont waste money on cheap scopes anymore. The inconsistency in performance is a turn off. I know there are some ok ones (I have a simmons that works great) but Ive gone through too many failed optics to bother. The Primary Arms 6x is awesome but provided a but too much zoom. Leupold’s 4x rimfire checked all the blocks and I’m confident this scope will be in the family for years and possibly generations.
Pros:
- Quality, size, performance
Best Used for:
- Compact rimfires used under 100yds

This Leupold FX-1 scope is the perfect complement to my manlicher stocked Ruger 10/22. I wanted to stay with classic styling and a scope of proper proportions for my rifle. The optics are great as we have all come to expect from Leupold. Great value and a great scope.
Pros:
- Great optics at a reasonable price

Recommended for short range hunting and plinking distance. Very clear glass and simple to mount. I have it on my cz 22 long rifle and can shoot a quarter at 50 yards on this fixed 4x. I do have to adjust and zero in the scope each time I go to the range, takes about four shots, but 500 rounds later it holds tight groups.

Extremely high quality fixed mag scope for rimfire, or air rifle applications. Perfect magnification for targets under 50 yards. Fixed magnification takes away the urge to find another magnification, when 4X will do. 4x is enough power, and easier to hold steady, and thus quicker to the shot. Light gathering is great, and distortion is absent with this scope. I recommend without any reservations !
