Most Helpful Positive Review Leupold RX1000 TBR
I really like using my rangefinder! It is a little slow and does have trouble getting a range on far objects but its not bad. I owned a Leica 1200 but it doesnt have the TBR/ARC function which makes this a less expensive more accurate range finder for my bow/gun hunting needs! Pros: Ease of use, Re...

Most Helpful Negative Review Did not last long
I have had the RX-1000i for many years, but used it so scarcely that it is still on the original battery. It worked well up until recently. About two weeks ago out of the blue, the display started failing... showing only partial numbers and lines. Sent it back to Leupold, but they will not fix it as...

Limited warranty

purchased Leupold RX1000i range finder. after couple of years of use during deer season only, the display started to fade. this is a common issue with this make if you read the reviews. Leupold has a 2 year warranty on rangefinders and will not replace a design fault. I recommend a company that has life time warranty.

Tenge finder RX1000i TBR

by Jordan, from IL, United States Written on November 18, 2020
4 years old rangefinder. Brought it from Cabela’s two of them, for me and my son. Now we have a problem with reading the numbers of distance it is so bright at both of them. Replace battery wasn’t help. We try to go under manual settings , but doesn’t help it.

Leupold RX-1000i TBR Compact Digital Laser Rangefinder

by JEB, from WA, Australia Written on August 28, 2018
This initially was a fine product, but I bought the more expensive model to use the bullet drop compensation calculations based on ballistic coeffient. I found that none of the 5 choices of BC matched my calibre and so was useless to me. The calibre tables were mostly based on common American calibres for deer and heavy game. I find it hard to accept that it would be difficult to improve the calibre/BC choice for every shooting enthusiast. Hence it was used solely as a distance measuring device which I could have bought for half the price. After 5 years ownership I have noticed a failing in the display with patches fading to unreadable. This is not what i would expect from a premium product. Too expensive, unusable features and failing quality put this produce in the 'not recomended' category.

3 Seasons So Far

by Alaskabenny, from AK, United States Written on September 20, 2017
So, I've used this range finder for a while now. The last four Caribou, I've taken at these ranged yards, line of sight LOS: 130yds, 500yds, 473yrds, and 570yrds, in that order. I haven't used the TBR feature set on BAS, because the chart lists the setting B for my 180grn 300 win mag, is based on a 300yrd zero. Who zeros their 300 win mag for 300 yards? I've never met a single person who zeros any hunting rifle for 300 yards, especially in 300 win mag. That 300yrd zero would give a completely lousy MPBR, Maximum Point Blank Range. I zero my rifle for 250yrds, which gives me the best MPBR plus or minus 3 inches out to 290 yards. 300 yards and beyond, I'm using my BDC reticle to great success. I haven't tried this yet, but if I were to use the TBR function. I would set the TBR to use the performance group selector table, set to group C. That chart or table is showing the most accurate numbers for my ballistics, even at the 800yrd settings, when I use a ballistic calculator. I have only used Barnes 180grn TTSX cartridges, rated for 2960fps. I don't like that I have to reset the range finder to go between LOS, Line Of Sight, and TBR. It would be great to have a screen that showed both the LOS range, and the TBR range, or at least, be able to toggle between the two. I like to know both numbers. LOS, for bragging about the true range, but TBR so I can select the precise aiming point to use on my BDC reticle. Other than the weird zero recommendations, and the above mentioned lack of...

Excellent Laser

by Swamp Donkey, from VA, United States Written on November 30, 2014
I bought this in anticipation of going on an Elk hunt. The hunt will have to wait but I have tested it out at the range and it works well beyond my expectation. Very clear image and excellent accuracy. lightweight and easy to use. I wish it had a stronger strap though.

Excellent Rangefinder

by Jesse Tischauser, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on October 9, 2014
This range finder has proven itself to be extrememly effective. I shoot a lot of 3-gun competitions. We are ways ranging targets out to 600 yards. The true distance feature that takes into account slope really is nice. It is very easy to use. It is nice and compact. So it fits right in a small pocket on the front of my rifle bag. The ranger finder feels tough and rugged and quality is in par with all leupold products.
Pros:
  • compact
  • rugged
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Range use
  • 3-gun competition
  • Precision rifle competition

Awesome Range Finder

by Hunter TX, from TX, United States Written on August 31, 2014
After looking at several competing range finders, I settled on this one and I am truly glad I did. This item has really shown me my distance estimation was not even close. I like the true ballistic range capability and the range finder telling me how many MOA, mill radians or inches I need to hold over the target to compensate for the distance. Bright clear 6X image. Have used it to range targets at night and during the day in excess of 925 yards. Showed it to my friend and he said he was going to buy one too.
Pros:
  • QUALITY OPTIC
  • Accurate
  • Bright, clear picture
  • Compact size (tactical)
  • Easy to use features
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • hunting with an AR or MSR type rifle, plinking, low light shooting, mid-range shooting

Great product

Wonderful clear optics and display. I am very pleased with this rangefinder. It's too bad for me that I found out a week later that a major competitor had it for $100 LESS and OP refused to match the price.

It could have a sharper display but it ranges good anyway.

by Szumi, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on August 12, 2014
I've been wanting a range finder for a number of years. The TBR, feature using angle measurement seemed useful or at least neat to have. I may bow hunt again some day.

My issue with this unit and likely with other units is the OLED display is optimized to look sharp at the typical ranges you can laser in the store. Once you get out in the field, you have to compromise between focusing on what you are trying to measure and seeing the display. I'm 56, my eyes don't do the multi focus trick anymore. Younger users may have no problems dealing with this.

I sent my unit back to Leupold complaining of a fuzzy display. They sent it back saying it is fine, no problems found.

To the products credit, I've measured chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams at both small bore and high power distances and sizes and it was able to differentiate between the critters and the berm behind them.

So I gave it a 4. Can't give it a 4.2 on this site.
