This is my 2nd Midwest Industries AK mount. The first was one of their older model single 30mm ring mount. Used that with an Aimpoint red dot for years and had no issues with it and it consistently held zero. It lined up perfectly with the bore. I’ve been wanting to try an EoTech on my AK so Midwest Industries was my first choice for a picatinny mount to make it happen.
This is the perfect sized rail space for an EoTech 512 and the price is good compared to other options. It’s great quality and the QD feature is handy, the rail is T marked if that means anything to you. It’s rock solid and sits close enough to the top cover to where you can use irons with nothing on the mount or probably co-witness with a low profile optic. Very versatile too, I could basically run anything with a picatinny attachment on this thing.
My ONLY gripe is that there’s no way to adjust it laterally so there’s a chance it won’t line up perfectly with your bore and there’s not much you can do about it. In my case, it sits slightly to the right. Not enough to make it unusable, especially with an EoTech that has a wide window, but enough to notice it without the optic. When I first got it, I was on the fence of returning it because of this. I gave it a chance and it works perfectly and I don’t even notice or think about it while shooting. I did try it on a few different AKs I own and it fit each one differently.
Overall, I am happy with this mount and don’t have any concerns about it falling apart on...
