VISM Bolt Catch Pin Tool
When I received this punch I saw an American flag on the front and rear of the package insert and I thought wow, Made In The USA. Took the punch and lower guard protector out and looked at them.
The punch is made with some cheap bar stock metal and the tip is so small that it's gonna drive right through the center of the roll pin or break off. I thought this would be an actual roll pin punch but there is no dimple on the end. The Lower receiver guard seems to be made well. If this came with a quality punch it would be a fantastic tool.

Very disappointed with this
The guard actively got in the way when driving the pin in, and it was nearly impossible to start the pin with this. But because of the design of the guard, the pin can’t be started first, it has to be started with the guard in place. After an hour of fussing with it, I gave up and used roll pin punches and masking tape which got the job done nearly instantly. Overall this tool is a cool concept but awful to use.
Pros:
- Keeps the receiver from getting scratched
Cons:
- Makes it harder to drive the pin
Best Used for:
- the trash can

VISM Bolt Catch - Meh - So So
I purchased the VISM Bolt Catch. Looked like a neat concept. I’ve gotten pretty good with driving the pins in without scratching or marring the side of the receiver, but I figured this couldn’t hurt.
Issue I had is I can fit any of my starter punches into the VISM tool. Couldn’t fit any punches in besides the one provided. So I had to use the provided punch. And the tip on that was so slender that it drove through the pin. Didn’t work out like I thought it would.
I would just stick with tape and the Real Avid tools.

Ar15 bolt bolt catch lever tool
Love the simplicity of the tool and there is less chance of damage to the lower. So you know what I mean, I had a stroke and my left arm has problems. This simplifies the process. And the price is great. Optics planet service can’t be better. I’ve ordered from other places but never had faster service. Great job

This tool is the best out there . It will save you from scratching your lower receiver with the punch . The blue protecter fits like a glove and locks in good .

I'm so happy for these gunsmith tools. I'm very impressed with these tool's. Having tool's can never go wrong. They work perfectly, having tool's saves you a headache of having to hand over your part to a shop and be put on a list for a price $$$ and wait. Having tool's let's you do your own work at the time of your needs.
