NcSTAR Compactr Rifle Scope Review
First got this rifle scope for a PSL 54C, but I was worried about the recoil so I mounted it on my AR 15 in 223/556. I took the rifle shooting 3 times, first two it held zero nicely and I was impressed with the optic quality given the price. On my third trip out to the range everything was going a...

nice for a first scope
I wished the parallax was at 50 yards but otherwise it works for my 22. The eye box is very narrow so it works for target practice better than stalking.
Pros:
- Price
Cons:
- eye box

- beginner

NcSTAR Illuminated SEC3942R AR Scope
For around $48.00, this isn't a bad little 3-9 power illuminated scope for "plinking" with my AR with 16" barrel. Very compact and mounted to standard 1" dia. x 1.5" tall scope rings. Not sure if this can be used with a cantilever style mount since the area where it attaches is very narrow, so do your research 1st. I bore sighted this at about 100 yards and was about 8" off center with 1st round. After 2 adjustments, I was grouping right around the bullseye at 150 yds. The biggest variance was my over 50s eyesight! The red illumination seemed to work fine, but is a little bright past 5 power during low light conditions. The light seemed to blind me a bit, but works OK during daylight conditions, when illumination isn't really needed. I added Vibra tite purple threadlocker to all the mounting screws and so far the scope is still sighted in just fine. I've only used it twice, so I'll have to see how it holds up to more .223/5.56 rounds in the future.

ross ow Scope
Really ice scope for crossbow shoots perfect not sure how it would work on a rifle depending on the recoil

Very compact
I like the scope a lot it has several features, and I didn’t even realize that the radical is a light up style(red only) for the price it was extremely reasonable. The only complaint I would have is the scope is so compact it is very hard to mount to be comfortable to your eye relief, but as for clarity and function, it is fantastic
Pros:
- Features for cost
Cons:
- Challenging them out
Best Used for:
- Plinking and varmint

Leapers compact scope
It's a 3x9x42E scope and the quality is more for and air rifle. I have both leapers 3x9x40 and 50, they seem to be better in sight quality. The eye relief also is somewhat lacking as well. The view of your target isn't clear and the scope seems cheap when mounted on a AR.
Pros:
- Mil dot and illuminated reticle
Cons:
- For the price ncstar is a better option
Best Used for:
- Best on a small caliber air rifle non hunting
Would recommend: No
Stay away from this
I bought this compact rifle scope 3-9X for an inexpensive rifle. Out of the box, it appears solid, well built. Provision is made for focusing the recticle and that works very well. However, with it set at 3X the image (target) itself is blurry. As one increases magnification to 9X the blurriness worsens while the recticle remains sharp. I tried the recticle illumination at dusk and found that at low settings it was barely visible. I increased the brightness of the illumination and found that it lit up the inside perimeter of the recticle and spilled onto the inside of the scope, starting to wash out any image of what I was aiming at. Because of this and the unacceptable blurriness I mentioned at the onset I can only recommend that you NOT purchase this product.
Pros:
- Compact size, appears solid.
Cons:
- Does not work.
Best Used for:
- Filling trash receptacle.

N C Star scope
Very good quality for the cost of the scope looks great on my ar and holds zero very good. Will be ordering another in the very near future. Will be ordering another one or two very soon for my future builds
Pros:
- Very clear for the money
Cons:
- Illumination is very tight and hard to turn on
Would recommend: Yes
Disapointed
I mounted this scope just like the picture in the description The eye relief is too short. The only way to make it work is to put it on a cantilever mount several inches to the rear. The defeats the purpose of a compact scope so I reinstalled my full length scope and returned this one.
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- Doesn't work as advertised
Would recommend: No

NcStar 3-9x42E ILL. scope
I've bought these here before and got perfect ones, this one has some noticeable (1 or 2 inches movement) parallax at 100 yds. Will try one more NcStar before giving up on them.
Pros: compact size
Cons: This one has some parallax

Wasted money
If you like cheap stuff that does not perform well then this is the scope for you. I am comparing this scope to two others I own. The BSA Catseye 3-12x44 $139.00 and a Center Point 3-9x40 bought at Wal-Mart for around $50. First comparison was done during daylight. Looking through them both the BSA and Center Point had a noticeably clearer image than the NC Star. Next, I compared their magnification properties. At 9x on all of them the BSA and Center Point both looked the same while the NC Star looked like it was on magnified to 7 in comparison to the two others. Finally, I compared their red light illumination at night under a full moon. The red light will do no good in total darkness and its not intended to anyway, but under a full moon it will definetly help you unless you have this NC Star scope. Both with the BSA and Center Point the dimmest setting of red works awesome at night as just the cross hairs light up enough to see it especially against a dark backdrop. The NC Star even at its lowest light setting is way to bright and lights up the tube making it impossible to see anything through it at night. Bottom line, I really don't like this scope. For the same money buy the Center Point.
Pros: it's cheap
Cons: not a good scope
