Most Helpful Positive Review Great value for the price
Pros: It seems very well constructed and doesn’t feel cheap. The 1x functions very well as a close combat optic. I love that it comes with a throw lever. The mount is actually very nice “for a free mount”. It zooms in just enough to make 300yd engagements easier. Cons: It’s heavy. The illuminated re...

Most Helpful Negative Review Mount fits too loose
Scope is fine but the mount is junk. It slides back and forth on the rail about 1/8 of a inch. Junk! I tried to get tighten the bolts thinking maybe it would make the mount fit the way it was supposed too but nope. So far the scope seems to be good for the price but time will tell.

Impressive

by Joeybagadonuts, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on November 16, 2024
I have been using this LPVO on my .300 blackout for a few hunting seasons and it’s been perfect for me it’s extremely accurate and reliable. I never have to re-zero each season and I’ve killed a bunch of deer with it. Would definitely recommend especially for this price.

Pro and Con

by The Bullskinner, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on June 30, 2023
I have purchased several of these scopes from Optics Planet. Wanting a LPVO, the reticle was what first attracted me to order this optic. Plus NcSTAR has a lifetime warranty so I was not put off by the Chinese origin. Most optics are now made in China.

Once I received this scope, I fell in love with the illuminated reticle. I ordered two more before ever mounting one on a rifle.

After mounting and zeroing, while accompanied by another experienced shooter, it became apparent that this optic was not suitable for close quarters battle or even home defense. The sweet spot for clear visability on the eye relief was extremely narrow and unforgiving. Every shot required adjustment on the cheek/stock weld to obtain a clear sight picture. We both agreed that this was major problem.

Note: This scope may work well for hog hunting or other usage where snap shots are not necessary. I still love the reticle.

Now, a cudo for Optics Planet. When I realized the limitations of this optic, I called Optics Planet to see if I could return the last two scopes, still NIB. It was past the deadline for returns. Because the two optics were NIB, Optics Planet granted me an exception and authorized a return. After their examination of the return, they issued me full refunds on both optics. They also reinstated a significant amount of OP Bucks that I used when purchasing the optics. I did not expect them to authorize return for the scope that I had mounted and zeroed, nor did I ask.

Best bang for the buck for this type of sight

by Izzy, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on September 2, 2022
There are plenty of detailed reviews on this model. To keep it short, why this sight is great? Doesn't look or feel cheap. Has a 3Gun style format starting at 1X going to a decent 6X, fairly clear across of the range. It's a second focal plan sight, so the unique reticle will not change size as you zoom. Downside your settings are at the original magnification. Easy way to have a sight in every rifle you have without breaking the bank. Farthest I've tried is 300yds and about 1K rounds with no issues. This is not for going to war, good enough for the range or home defense. Got one and like it so much, ended up buying another. You're picky? Expend 2X, 3X times more on a Vortex or something else. Otherwise, there's no reason to have a long gun without at least a basic sight like this.
Pros:
  • Great price, feels well built for price
Cons:
  • Sighting could be better
Best Used for:
  • Target, range, defense

I was reluctant to purchase , but now I'm buying a second one

by OC, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on June 29, 2022
First impression when I took it out of the box and looked through it was dang, the cross hairs are definitely not square with the scope. As I played with it some more I was pleased with the clarity and overall feel. This is a nice scope. Mind you it's not a $600 plus LPVO but it's more than worth the price it's set at. Especially if you can get it on sale. I opted for the one with no mount as I would replace it anyhow and why pay for what I'm not going to use.
The red and green recital have a good range of adjustment. Would be nice if there were offs between settings like some scopes but heck, at this price I can live with it.
I mounted it to a new AR build I recently finished. A 223 Wylde that is more towards a high end build. I didn't cut corners anywhere. I built my own upper and lower completely with higher end hardware. I was reluctant to cheap out on a scope but I figured this might hold me for a while till I come across a nice scope on sale. I will still most likely buy a higher quality LPVO at some point but I'm not in a big hurry to at this point.
So I have it mounted on my rifle and I've aligned the cross hairs in relation to my rifle. I have no complaints. The eye box is better than I expected, quite good really. Glass is clear and zooming in and out is smooth and firm but actually could be a tad more firm but I don't see it being an issue.
I have another build. A 300 Blackout that I've never put an optic on because I built it to sell. All my other AR's hav...

Not worth the price!

by mcr123, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 3, 2021
Compare to a Firefield, there is a huge difference. NcStar eye box is horrible, even in 1X zoom. 6X takes a lot of effort to make sure you have a clear sight picture. Don't let the reticle fool you and buy a better quality.
Pros:
  • Built in Throw Lever
Cons:
  • Horrible eye box

Really good deal

by MolonLabe, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on October 24, 2021
Beyond surprised, with this budget scope actually got in on optics sister site DVor.com for $119. I have used this scope on my Ruger American .308 and holds zero only had the chance to reach out to 500yds on steel but did so with ease at full zoom. Clarity is comparable to my atibal Stryker that it just replaced on my primary .223 setup. Honestly so good I bought another when it was available again on sale for my other rifle. Come with clear flip up covers, no mount but at this price …… I’m ok with that. Adjustment for zoom is smooth, illumination for red and green is pretty good not a lot of wash out on high red illumination and the green outside works like a charm very crisp. Overall very pleased with this budget buy, close to quality of other scopes costing 5-10 times this price.

  • price and quality

  • Brand name

Excellent Glass

by Aaron Folks, from WY, United States Written on September 22, 2021
The sight picture is crystal clear and the magnification is seamless, with no blueing or fuzzing around the reticle . The green and red illumination is very nice and the spectrum from dimmest to brightest is very good , however at the brighter settings some reflection within the scope body does occur, however from the low to mid range this is completely absent . Overall it’s a great buy for the price and is very well put together, would repurchase and recommend- and as always Optics Planet delivered with stellar customer service, fast shipped and great price .
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Slight ring reflection

Truely shocked!

by Joseph, from NC, United States Written on April 29, 2021
I have more expensive optics but I own several rifles and can't afford to spend $500-$800 on each one of them. I bought this because it was the least expensive one at the time. I was totally shocked by how bright and clear the glass was for such a low price point. Doesn't look or feel cheap at all. A few weeks ago I trained with it in a full-day class and had no issues whatsoever. I am buying another one to leave in the safe while the price is still so low as a backup or spare.
