Most Helpful Positive Review Completely Absurd
This brake performs exactly as advertised. Recoil be gone, and very much gone it is. It's blast to shoot, pun fully intended. Loud, obnoxious, you probably don't need it, but you should absolutely have it. The only downside I could come up with is the gas that gets sent straight into your face, but ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Permanent hearing loss
I got this to lessen the recoil on my ar10. I shot 20 rounds before I put it on, so I could judge the difference. Shot another 20 rounds. The recoil was less, but the sound was a lot louder and my Walker Silencer hearing protection was inadequate to prevent permanent hearing loss. The muzzle blast i...

Misleading Image

by stillwaiting, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on May 8, 2026
The product is great but the images are misleading. Even though it is shown with the shim/washer kit, it is sold separately. Took OP a week to get it to me, now I’ll wait another week for the shim kit. Very slow shipping as usual.

hands down the best as eliminating recoil!

by Rev Putnam, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on April 21, 2026
I have this brake on several rifles and calibers. It absolutely will reduce recoil by 70-80%. Makes my .270 Win kick like a .223.
Pros:
  • Recoil gone
Cons:
  • Loud
Best Used for:
  • big caliber rifles

Shoots flat but at a cost

by Ross, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on March 1, 2026
This thing really does make my rifle shoot so flat, however the shock wave kicks back rather hard. Granted I have not tried other muzzle breaks before, but let’s just say when shooting competition, the RO was upset he had to stand behind me while firing because it’s so loud and concussive. I got used to it after 60 rounds or so but just be aware of what you are getting into. It also blows back directly into my flashlight which is concerning. Do NOT shoot this thing indoors. I can’t even imagine how concussive and loud it would be. Also doesn’t come with crusher washers which is no big deal and probably to be expected but just don’t forget to buy those separately like I did at first. Overall great muzzle break but know what you are getting into.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
  • Shoots very flat
Cons:
  • Very loud and concussive
  • The energy will blow back into your flashlight
Best Used for:
  • competative shooting

Best recoil mitigation there is

by Les, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on November 23, 2025
This is by far the best recoil reduction mod you can add to a rifle…especially.308. Works well on 5.56 and 300blk as well. When shooting at an indoor range, there is a noticeable blast to your neighbors on either side…but the recoil reduction to the shooter is amazing.
Pros:
  • Superior recoil reduction
  • Quick followup shots
Cons:
  • side blast
Best Used for:
  • Outdoor shooting

Christensen Arms Fix

by Tire iron, Verified Owner from NV, United States Written on October 12, 2025
We’ve had many Christensen rifles come through our Long Range Classes and they wouldn’t group well. The fix was this M4-72 muzzle brake. These rifles would hold a .625 inch group or better.

Best buy I've made in a while!

by Thekingesq, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on September 18, 2025
The Precision Armament M4-72 Severe-Duty Compensator is hands-down the best muzzle device I’ve ever used. Installation was simple, and once I got it on the rifle, the difference in performance was immediately noticeable. It does exactly what it’s designed to do—reduces recoil and muzzle rise to the point where staying on target during rapid fire feels effortless. Follow-up shots are quicker and more accurate, and the rifle just feels smoother to run overall.

While the side blast is definitely noticeable (as with most high-performance comps), it’s a tradeoff I’ll happily accept for the level of control this compensator provides. For me, it’s transformed the shooting experience into something much more enjoyable and precise. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to push their rifle’s performance to the next level. 5 stars.

Perfect for a long barrel 5.56 build

by Mike G, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 2, 2025
Works like a charm, part of a larger overall solution, but at the end of the day, my rifle has very little recoil and keeps my eye on target, as well as on subsequent rounds—very high quality. The only issue is the lineup. You'll need the shim kit to get it to tighten down and stay level. This part does not include the kit.
Pros:
  • Recoil absorption
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Long barrels
  • Long Range / Precision
