Most Helpful Positive Review Very pleasantly surprised
Wanted it in black but for $259 with the ACSS Aurora, it's a steal. $70 more to go to black, so I'll deal with FDE. It seems to be hard to find the ACSS Aurora reticle these days, so glad I got one when I could. Quality feel to the optic overall. Glass clarity is very good. Edge to edge clarity is very good. Pleased with the glass quality, light transmission. Eye relief and eyebox are to be expected. I don't know why others are complaining about the reticle -- my eyes suck and I can see it just fine. Illumination is excellent. Red or green is a nice touch, although I prefer red. Illumina...

Prefect Sight, Zero Astigmatism problems with Illumination, Crystal Clear

by Dustin, Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on February 1, 2025
Bought this sight on brand recommendation from a friend who had a PA 3x, same form factor. The etched and ACSS reticles are both fantastic for those with astigmatism. There is zero bloom up until the higher settings in a completely dark environment. The height on the sight is just right as well for my cheek-weld with the second position on my stock when it's mounted clear to the rear. I've got another friend that is waiting to see if these things get back in stock for the AURORA reticle, PA knocks it out of the park with there lineup of optics. The regular ACSS should be just as good, it just has some extra 'HUD' in the glass that I was not fond of.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Clarity
  • astigmatism friendly
  • Adjustment
  • Price and warranty
Cons:
  • Discontinued
  • Out of Stock
Best Used for:
  • rifle

No ACOG but great for the price

by overlord, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on September 15, 2024
If you like ACOG you'll probably like this optic. It is daylight bright in red and green color and the glass is clear. After a coupon I got FDE version for just over $200 so it was a really good deal. I have an RMR on top pic rail so that covers close distance targets. The optic feels solid and constructed well. I'd definitely recommend it.

Clear glass, highly effective reticle

by Jim Jam The Muffin Man, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on September 1, 2024
Clear glass, amazing reticle, very durable, very bright illumination, daylight bright, useable w/bindon aiming concept in daylight. Weight w/ QD mount and top dot comparable to a light LPVO w/AERO precision lightweight mount at 22oz even, but further to the rear and therefore easier to point and to manage recoil. Optic comes highly recommended, have used it to make good hits onto a 4in steel plate at 300 yards shooting into shadow. Great light transmission and large eyebox for the magnification, eye relief is fine under recoil, but probably tight for out of position shooting.
Pros:
  • Durability
  • clear glass
  • light transmission
  • reticle
  • Eye Box
  • top rail
Cons:
  • weight
  • field of view
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • comp shooting

Very cool optic

by USMC03, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 17, 2024
The variable brightness is awesome in both colors. It is a lot of fun to play with. Works well at night with a flashlight also. Not too heavy and mounts really easy. The Aurora reticle is extremely versatile and I look forward to playing with all the features. I was going for an ACOG like optic that I was familiar with from the Marine Corps, and this didn't disappoint. The 5x view is just the little bit extra compared to the old issued RCO 3.5x. It honestly makes all the difference in making very accurate shots. Highly recommend this optic.

great reticle

by joeyzapp, from FL, United States Written on January 12, 2024
So i really like the retical on this, could be a little larger, but works well, my range only has a 300 yard position, but after a few shots and a little tuning i was hitting 1 inch groups ( and some hole in hole shots) , and for $269, and lifetime warrenty i think its a good optic, i have it mounted on my Danials defence DDV7. I would recommend this 5× prism optic.

Wouldn't be my go to for CQB.

by D T, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 26, 2023
I like the optic and it's great for range, but not so much for CQB in my opinion. I probably should have gotten the other one with the ACSS horseshoe and chevron but rocking with this one for now.
Pros:
  • Strong
Cons:
  • None

Excellent Reticle

by Sasquatch, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on December 20, 2023
This ACSS Aurora reticle has it all: precision chevron for CQB, BDC holds out to 800yds, wind holds for 5 and 10mph, moving target holds, multiple auto-ranging features. The reticle is crisp and clear, even for my old eyes. The scope housing is compact and sturdy. The mount is strong and versatile with multiple height options. I like the 12-o-clock red-dot mount too. By rotating the rifle 45 degrees counter-clockwise, the top-mounted optic falls in line with your left eye for up-close target engagement. The diopter allows for customized focus in case you do not have 20-20 vision. While this scope is much lighter weight than an LPVO, it still is a hefty 18+ ounces. There are newer prism offerings from Primary Arms and other scope manufacturers that are significantly lighter although the eye relief may not be as good. I also ordered the anti-reflection device to reduce glare and the AR carry handle mount kits, but I have not tried them yet.
Pros:
  • compact
  • Sturdy
  • ACSS Reticle
  • BDC holds
  • Wind holds
  • Auto Ranging
  • Lighter than an LPVO
  • Top mount for red dot
  • Diopter
Cons:
  • Ligher options available
Best Used for:
  • AR Platform
  • CQB and Medium Range
  • 5.56 and .308

PA 5x36 Gen III Compact Prism Scope w/ACSS

by Carl, from NC, United States Written on November 26, 2023
I love it. I couldn't ask for more. Just looking at the reticle in my home, I thought it looked really small but once outside looking at targets, I never thought that again. Got it zeroed in and rings steel 20 out of 20 shots on a 10" gong about 80 yards out while I was standing. When using a table and barrel rest, I could hit 20 of 20 shots on a 3" steel target.
Pros:
  • Better than I hoped for.
Cons:
  • None for me. I own 3 of them.
Best Used for:
  • Hitting your target.
