Most Helpful Positive Review Great stock if your willing to put in some effort
Ok so I put my savage model 11 in it and was not a drop in installation by any means. With that being said if your willing to do some shaving of material then you can get it to fit and fit great. I do have to say it did take me about 2 or 3 hours to get it to fit and i used a dremel with a grinding...

Most Helpful Negative Review NOT For Top Bolt Release
I just got this in for my rifle and it does NOT fit. I tried it on another rifle and NO JOY either. Both are M-10's w/ 4.4" screw spacing & top bolt release. Good Luck calling Promag. They are no help either.

Extraordinary product for thr price!

by Booth78sar, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on February 13, 2024
I upgraded my very plain and average savage model 11 in .243 to a slick tack driver by simply bolting on the stock. It took a little figuring out to get it set up and documentation or videos on how to install on you tube were non existent. You have to remove the magazine housing release to access the rear bedding bolt. Very easy, but would have liked a drawing. Overall 5+ stars.
Pros:
  • Look, and feel
Cons:
  • instructiions

Poor product. Stay away

by Tundra, from AZ, United States Written on August 30, 2023
I have this stock for an M1A and I like it. This stock is a different manner. The description states that it is universal for the model 10 …. It is not. Recoil lug well is wall undersized. It’s off in all three directions. Hardware provided is poor….thread , pitch of screws is off. Course threading is baaaaaad. Forearm on mine dips in the front and appears warped. The design is filled with short cuts that make the stock not worth the money to buy or the effort to customize.
Pros:
  • Good superficial design and concept.
Cons:
  • Poor production and execution. Quality is low.
Best Used for:
  • none

Bad example or junk….Im not sure

by LarryC, from VA, United States Written on August 29, 2023
1st let me say I have this stock for my M1A and it is an overall great value. Based on that I bought this stock for my model 10 Savage. Three issues were found. Recoil lug area of the stock is NO WHERE near the correct size (3 dimensionally off). I fitted the stock after opening the recoil lug channel…I then found the forearm appears warped downward. Finally the screws provided are garbage. The were course threaded and obviously not chased. I do not believe the thread pitch was correct either. There was NO WAY to tighten them more that 3 threads without cross threading.

  • None at all

Works with 2006 and up Model 11

by Model 11, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on January 5, 2023
The stock was snug. Rather than a drop in replacement of the literally drop in original stock, this has to be coaxed. I didn’t have to sand or getting anything. Annoyingly, the instructions had question marks on applicable part numbers. Just know if you have a bolt release on the bottom in front of the trigger guard, the required part may be already installed. On that note, this stock now makes the original bottom release a side release. Cool, except it probably takes 40 lbs of pull to give the bolt enough clearance to be removed. I’m not sure how to fix that. Otherwise it’s a handsome stock that I look forward to shooting on.

Gun collector and avid gun shooter

After putting 8 of these on both long and short action Savage rifles, in 30-06, 308. 6.5CM, 270 and 223 calibers, I think I can offer some helpful advice to perspective buyers. I don’t usually take time to rate products, but the ratings for this product on Optics Planet are deceptive. (1) There is no competing product that even comes close to these stocks unless you want to spend 3 to 4 times the price and get a modern adjustable aluminum stock. They are a pound lighter weight and I love them, but if you spend that much you might as well buy a new rifle with one already on it. (2) Half of my installations have required some custom fitting with a dremel tool. If you have any mechanical aptitude at all, it is a very simple 30 to 90 minute project. When you have the action off the stock, you can easily adjust you Accutrigger. I really like Savage 110/10, 111/11 rifles. Not so much the Axis rifles. If you are over 6 feet tall, I think you will absolutely love these stocks. When you remove one of the flimsy plastic stocks off a Savage rifle and install one of these, you will add about a pound of weight to it. So if you are going to hike mountains all day on foot, you might want to spend more money and get a lighter setup. You can make these stocks fit like a glove and I love them, especially at the price. I have tested these guns with various quality ammo and have never seen any degraded accuracy after installing one of these stocks. With good factory ammo 0.5 MOA is what I like. ...

does not fit new model 11

by David Montgomery, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on January 23, 2020
No matter what ProMag claims, this is not inletted for the Savage Model 11 Hog Hunter. If you have a tapered action lug, it will not fit in the straight slot on the Archangel. Then when you mill out the slot to fit, you find that there is no space for the side bolt release. I will mill that out next, hope I still have a stock left when I finish. Lessons: send it back if a drop-in doesn’t fit on the first try, and always cut the stock, never the action. I only gave it 2 stars because I can probably fix it despite the misrepresentation. Oh, and nobody answers the phone at ProMag, they are all at the SHOT show.
Pros:
  • great features
Cons:
  • claims about dropin are false
