Excellent Cover
After finding several covers that stated they were not compatible with an Aero Precision M4E1 upper, I stumbled across this one. After being unable to find the compatibility of this cover, I decided to take a chance and order it. At first it didn't wanna stay shut, but after adding a drop of oil to ...

Won’t stay closed
I recently added this dust cover to a billet upper receiver and it looks great. Unfortunately, it simply won’t stay closed. The mil spec dust cover I originally had installed worked just fine, but this Timber Creek dust cover barely snaps closed and with barely any movement of the rifle at all, it p...

dust cover
Junk, nowhere close to fitting nor mil spec, don’t waste your money after all said & done I took it off scratched it now can’t return
Would recommend: No
Junk - Poor workmanship
Garbage. The retainer pin has to be threaded into the cover. It is nearly impossible to thread it through the hole. Eventually I stripped the head out trying to work it into position. Don’t waste your money. I just threw it in the trash and bought the carbon fiber cover from Fortis direct.
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- Poorly made.
- Assembly requires before installing.
Best Used for:
- nothing
- Leveling a table with a short leg.

Dust Cover
Nice metal dust cover. Installed easily. Be sure to put it on before your barrel nut. Looks good. Had to put on and remove a few times to be able to adjust the adjustable latch screw. No reason it doesn’t hold as tight or loose as you want other than getting the screw dialed in. Spring seemed lighter spring rate than mil-spec. Works as it should though

nice fit, finish
Wanted a billet dust cover to go with my billet upper. The fit and finish is very nice. Ill buy this again for my next build

looks nice, function and concept is bad
It is nothing but a hassle, I have a billet upper so I couldn't use the knurled rod they give you, the "Adjustable" detent on the set screw or whatever is crummy and a bad idea, i stripped mine out trying to adjust it properly after I had it installed so now ill have to deal with it not being super secure and or the metal shavings its producing from contacting the edge of the screw lip on the upper. Ill keep it on until it breaks, I suppose i can Dremel it off when it breaks and just buy a quick install cover from another company. oh , also the spring that came with it broke just from tension against the receiver as i was installing it so I had to use a different dust covers spring.
I would really recommend something else even if this is cheap it's a headache and a concern.

Watch Out look for it.
Be sure to install the little screw that latches the door shut on the dust cover, or your going to be in a world of hurt have to take it apart again.

Anodizing or aluminum seems weak
The anodizing was scratched off/dented the first time it opened and hit the lower, Haven't even taken it to the range yet. but just testing function of the new build I can see it denting deeper. I realize no parts will be scratch free for long but wow on the first time doing the only job its meant to do? I have another ar that has seen thousands of rounds and dust cover looks brand new still.
I dunno if the aluminum is weaker or just poor ano. Other than that, it works fine, I do love the color. (orange) Will see how it is long term but I don't expect any functional issues, just a little salty about the immediately cosmetic damage. Fit well on Faxon upper.

it works and looks good but….
Looks great but one side is knurled making it so you can only install one way and mine didn’t come with a C-clip and there isn’t any place for the C-clip like it shows in the picture so I dont know if I’d recommend or not. If it comes out or moves when shooting at the range I’d definitely not recommend it, obviously. I don’t understand why it’s knurled and bigger on one end, at first I thought maybe that’s the side the C-clip is held and that’s why it’s a hair bigger and knurled but it doesn’t install knurled end first, it’s too big. So no C-Clip , no C-clip divot for a C-clip. Is it suppose to stay ? I dont know. I’ll update this review once I know for sure.

Timber Creek Billet Dust Cover
I read all reviews and all I see is ignorance and lack of understanding how an AR15 upper receiver is assembled! Only when doing a clone will I insist on traditional mil-spec F/A and Dust Cover w c-clip rod. Outside of that the knurled rods are great and if installed correctly cannot just fall out?!!! Either the delta ring assembly if using drop in rails or the rail itself if Free Float makes it impossible to just fall out. I also judging by comments think folks using sub par uppers you know like a $40 Anderson vs a $150 - $300 Noveske. I call it like I read it boys and I’ve built a metric ton of rifles.

timber Creek billet dust cover
I had the same problem with a Daytona Tactical upper where the cover would not securely catch. Not a big deal because I have another D T upper for this new build & bought the same dust cover again. Fluke of flaw matters naught. It's great looking.
Pros:
- looks great & knurled pin is awesome
Cons:
- doesn't securely latch with my preferred uppers. ( I can live with it )
