the OEM sling mount is much more bulky then i had imagined,and much more difficult to install.if you have the newer style three prong carbine wrench,it wont work.the design of the sling mount prevents all three prongs from making contact with the castle nut.you absolutely need the older style single...

Close but not a perfect fit

I like the products manufactured by Troy I have purchased in the past. This one required some file work to get it to fit over the buffer tube (mils pec buffer tube). The center raised "pin" was slightly too high and the "circle" was slightly too small. I am not a stranger to fitting parts so it was not an issue in the end, but if someone is not handy and willing to invest a little time it will be frustrating. This is not a dremel opportunity (I have plenty of projects that require a dremel, this is not one of them), as I think a dremel may egg out some areas that do not need to be opened up.

Pros:

overall god quality materials

Cons:

slightly too small for the milspec buffer tube

Best Used for:

builder not just an assembler

Tried one of these sling mounts on my second AR build. I liked it so much that it has be come standard equipment on all of my AR’s. It is now an option for all of my customer builds who plan to utilize a single point sling. About 80% choose the option and I have not had one complaint.

Very durable, practical and well suited for both, left and right handed shooters!!! The flat black blends in perfectly with the rest of the AR rifle.

Right QD port kind of blocks the forward assist

You can still push the forward assist with your thumb, but you can't really bump it with the heel of your hand. I know Eugene Stoner didn't even want a forward assist, blah blah. I'm just the messenger.

What can I say this is a very well built / solid high quality product and the installation is pretty strait forward. Product seems expensive but it does come with a high quality detachable swivel as well so once you add that in it is a reasonably priced item. Great to be able to add more sling attachment options depending on shooting needs. Very impressed with this item!

Great QD Baseplate

I have several of these Troy QD Base Plates installed on rifles. Like everything Troy, they are high quality in design and Materials. The plate allows for easy attachment and detachment of QD Stud, Is extremely secure and the provide Stud easily supports my AR-10 with ease.
