Most Helpful Positive Review Best Gas Tube You'll Probably Never Need
Out of the box you can see more milling step cuts that indicate that not only is the tube made out of a bomb proof material but it is also thicker walled. Tolerances are perfect and it sustained many mag dumps without a hint of fatigue or discoloration. I hand picked everything on this build to surv...

Most Helpful Negative Review Gas tube burst in less than 300 rounds full auto
Gas tube failed first day out at the range. Lasted less than 300 rounds. (2) 100 round drums back to back and then another about 90 seconds later the tube failed about 3/4 of the way through the third drum. I’ve seen regular mil-spec tubes do better than this.

very good product

I like it. Definitely well built very sturdy. Pricey for a gas tube. But well worth it.

awesome material gas tubes

by M, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on April 1, 2025
I used this for a build of mine. Works so nicely, I've had no problems with them at all. They're a bit pricey, but it's a super cool material.

Set and forget

by Chris, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on July 10, 2024
If you are building something that cost a lot what’s a little extra for some peace of mind knowing your gas tube will not fail. I use this on all my builds and to me the peace of mind is worth and the quality of materials speaks for itself
Pros:
  • Quality
Cons:
  • Expensive

Maybe. If you want to ruin your upper.

by Buff Buffington, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on October 31, 2023
These gas tubes have a taper and larger diameter than other gas tubes. Will NOT fit the gas tube hole in Aero M5 upper receivers. You could drill out the hole so it fits but when you go to use normal gas tubes they will rattle around and not align with the gas key. If you try to install one of these in an Aero M5 you will scratch up your barrel & gas tube in the process.
Pros:
  • They aren't $200.
Cons:
  • Won't fit an Aero M5.
Best Used for:
  • AR15

Excellent gas tube

by James, from NV, United States Written on June 14, 2022
Overall, this is an outstanding gas tube. The build quality and design improvements are apparent just by looking at the gas tube. The gas tube body is slightly thicker than a standard stainless steel gas tube. And the gas key collar is not just a widening at the bolt carrier end of the gas tube. It's a thickened lug that machine (or molded) into the gas tube.

Yes, this robust construction can cause fit issues with certain upper receivers and barrel nuts (notably, the SLR Rifleworks barrel nut). V Seven says this is not compatible with Aero Precision M4E1 upper receivers. But I had no fit issues using this gas tube in an M4E1 upper. Your mileage may vary.

In any case, as long as this gas tube fits, it's an impressively high quality part. And could be worth the rather high price if you're after a bombproof gas system. Though, most people don't NEED a gas tube this robust, since most people don't shoot full-auto or do high volumes of suppressed fire.

There's no penalty for having too much durability, in most cases, though.
Pros:
  • durable
  • Looks cool
  • high quailty
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • does not fit all upper receivers and barrel nuts
Best Used for:
  • AR-15

Can't beat inconel!

by Kyle, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 17, 2022
I've tried just about every gas tube available. The fitment for a standard tube vs this aftermarket aren't completely universal depending on your gas block. Out of the 8 different gas blocks I tried, all were a great fit. The only downside to this gas tube is the gas tube is designed to fail first in an overheating situation to prevent a gas block fatal failure. This gas tube will outlast most barrels and gas blocks. It is lighter, beefier than a standard tube. It isn't necessary but definitely adds to your lightweight or shtf build. I wanted the most durable materials for my build. With this, I have it. Good luck finding a better gas tube.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • durable
  • One of a kind
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • Lightweight build
  • SHTF build

If you never want to replace a gas tube get this

by JR, from OR, United States Written on October 22, 2021
Most ar15 owners will likely never need to replace a regular gas tube. But if you want one that you guarantee that then this is the one for you.
If running full auto, binary trigger, etc. this also would be a good gas tube but would need to keep an eye on barrel temperature to make sure you don't over heat the barrel in too short period of time since this gas tube likely won't be the first thing to malfunction like it was designed to. If you can afford to dump magazine after magazine with ammo prices as high as they are right now I mean.
It's thicker than the average gas tube leading up to where it enters the upper receiver so will not be compatible with all barrel nuts for all hand guards without maybe some modifications to the barrel and/or hand guard. It fit Midwest industries SP rail and aero precisions enhanced gen 2 hand guard without any modifications.

Does Not Fit Mega Arms Upper

by Yuriy R., from GA, United States Written on August 25, 2021
Does not fit Mega Arms uppers. The description did not say anything about not fitting this upper (both on OpticsPlanet and V Sevens Website), so I thought I would be good. I have to use a standard gas tube. This item arrived promptly when I ordered it in March, but had to wait several months on a barrel. Since OpticsPlanet had almost a year wait time on the barrel (after first posting it was only going to be a month) I had to order from someone else, but that put me outside the 30 day return window for the gas tube when I found out things would not fit. I now have a very expensive drinking straw.
Pros:
  • Seems well made
Cons:
  • Fitment issues with many uppers
Best Used for:
  • Drinking water

The only gas tube I use

by Wes, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on June 15, 2021
If you're looking for the ultimate gas tube that will last or outlast the life of your rifle, look no further. This gas tube is made of the same material most modern suppressors are made of. Suppressors capable of withstanding full-auto fire need inconel in order to last, leave it to V Seven to use that same material to model the toughest gas tube out of. Not only will it survive temperatures that would render your standard gas tubes into a curly noodle of scrap metal, it won't ever rust or corrode. I use these in all of my builds and love the quality of the construction and the fit and finish. When you hold it in your hands you can just feel that this is one bad mama-bama that has no equal. OpticsPlanet was quick to get this shipped out to me as well, so there's that. Is this gas tube worth the premium it commands? If you want the weakest link of your rifle to no longer be a possible liability when you need it most, YES- absolutely!

BEST THING YOU DONT NEED

by TX2A, from TX, United States Written on May 31, 2021
Amazing gas tube 99.9% of people don't need. I will never get the gun hot enough to pop a regular gas tube, but I like to overbuild things and waste money on parts to get that warm and fuzzy feeling. All jokes aside, people buying these tubes do not understand how the AR-15 is meant to operate. The gas tube IS supposed to be your point of failure and you won't be shooting enough rounds to reach that point regardless. Unless you are doing 20 30round mag dumps on a full auto lower this item is pointless, not to mention your barrel will be scrap metal after said activity. Spend your money on ammo and training maybe even a book about the very system you are using.
Pros:
  • Spending money
Cons:
  • unnecessary
Best Used for:
  • Show and Tell
