Excellent bolt for a high end Ruger 10 22 build
I bought this Volquartsen bolt for a rifle I built made entirely of Volquartsen parts, minus the stock which was made by Hogue. I couldn't be happier with this bolt.
First off, it matches all the other Volquartsen components on the rifle. Second, and this is purely aesthetic, it's black, which is...

Warning before buying
During installation of the bolt if the rod end comes out of the notch in the back of the receiver and the bolt slides forward, it will be stuck in the receiver. At this point you will have to bend the rod or cut it to remove the bolt.
You will then need a new rod and spring.

nice quality
Nice quality bolt that tightens up the action of the 10/22. Had really good experience with all of the Volquartsen products.

Volquartsen cnc 10/22 bolt
Super nice machining and finish on this bolt. I like the way the bolt handle is part of the bolt and not separate. Makes installation of the bolt much easier.

Best Bolt for 10/22
Put 2000 rounds through this bolt, only 1 failure to eject ever. 9.9/10 would recommend this to anyone looking at it. Best bolt for the price

Volquartsen Competition bolt for Ruger 10/22
This competition bolt has a DLC coating that looks like it's made from platinum. It slides in my Volquartsen SuperLite aluminum receiver like butter. The surface is easy to clean and does not attract gunk. I sent the charging handle to get cerakoted to a different color so that it will match my rifles color theme. They did a great job with their CNC work. This cost more than other manufacture's but I can easily see why.
Pros:
- DLC coating
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Ruger 10/22 rifle

Not Really A Match Bolt
This Bolt has a Head space of over 48 thousandths Match bolts are 42 to 43.5.
Additionally this bolt will not fit my serial # 199XXX receiver without taking a Dremal tool to the reciever.
Both facts confirmed the the Volquartsen Customer service.
Save money and buy something else that may actually work.

Volquartsen bolt
First off, every time I say Volquartsen I feel like it should be sung by Ramstein… just me? Anyhoo, this think is slicker than snot on an ice cold garage floor. I mean it basically eliminates friction. I was so far, the hardest thing I’ve installed on the 10/22 and I can say hardest period since everything is now Vol… Volquart…. Volquarsen. Sorry, and really it wasn’t that hard to install. I did figure out a trick in removing the old bolt. Use a very strong magnet instead if fighting to try and pry it. What I love best about this part is that it makes the action quieter. It comes with a buffer to replace a stop bolt. It makes a big difference in sound, which is the whole point of my build. At this point it is hard to determine accuracy differences, this is the last part I have done. However, I will say it is way more consistent which generally translates to more accurate. It put all 30 test shots in a small circle… which is impressive if I was speaking of the bullets, it’s more impressive in reality because what I meant wasn’t the bullets it was the brass and like I said consistency usually translates to accuracy. I may repeat this build with my other 10/22 which has a 16” heavy barrel. This one was done for a integrally suppressed barrel. One thing is certain I have learned from all this. Nothing competes with vol… volquart … volquartsen!!! The quality is amazing.
Pros:
- Quality, performance and good looks
Cons:
- Semi pricey but what isnt thats any good
Best Used for:
- 10/22 suppressed

Excellent product.
This is a high performance bolt. Requires only minimal lube and hence collects little dirt.

Perfect is barely good enough…this is good enough.
Fit and finish looks perfect. If you’re building a 10/22 from scratch you should get one of these.
