Probably has something scientific to with viewing the dot through a pair of lenses rather than a dot projected onto a single lense. The extra lense gives your eye something to focus on ahead of the dot. I have the same problem with holographic and single lense reflex sights but not when using a scope style red dot like this or the romeo 5.
