Aimtech Red Dot Mount for Colt 1911 45
Fits well on my Kimber Target ll. Also, very pleased with the overall balance. I use it for shooting Bullseye League. The tubular red dot sight I use mounts at almost exactly the right height for my line of sight. The best part was the installation required no drilling on my Kimber.

Works but has issues
I got one for my Ruger 1911 and it fit ok and the sight attached good. But I found that on occasion it would interfere with the ejecting of brass and it made it more difficult to rack the gun. It also stood kind of high which made the red dot sight I put on it high. I sent the Aimtech 7 sight mou...

Aimtech On SIG
I used the mount on my SIG 1911 Target to carry an Ultradot sight.I used the grip screws only as the threaded pins didn't work well on my gun.I could have made them work but decided the grip screws gave a firm mount and that way I can take it off easily. I smoothed out the sharp ridge on the back of the mount with sandpaper and added Talon grip tape to match the Hogue L/H grip panel. Happy so far and glad I didn't have to drill holes in a nice gun.
Pros:
- No drilling
Cons:
- Thin and flat
Best Used for:
- C-More sight

1911 optics mount
Excellent, it's exactly as advertised. Really well designed and well made, make sure you read the instructions and have a little patience installing it and you'll have a solid optics mount. Loctite every screw!

Mount according to directions.
I purchased a 10mm 1911 for hunting and I wanted to put an optics on it and I found this while looking through optics world web page and it was just what I was looking for. I got it and it looked simple and I thought I could mount it just using the grip screws instead of using the special screw pins that replace two of the frame pins. Needless to say the 10mm has to much power for just the grip screws they kept coming loose and throwing off my scope, so use the supplied pins that come with it.

The perfect solution to what I was seeking
I much prefer my red dot sight to the laser I was using on my 1911. I am right handed and my left eye is very dominant over my right. the iron sights on my 1911 are fine as far as they go, but i much prefer the red dot sight. I have seen some mounting configurations on the slide, but adding extra mass to the slide is less than desirable. I found the aimtech to be an ideal solution.

Aimtech Scope Mount
This is the way to go for adding a scope to your 1911. If you want to leave it on permanently then install the pins and the grip screws. If you want to just shoot for the afternoon just use the grip screws. It locks up solid either way. For my purposes I would have preferred to have the mount sit as low as possible to facilitate minimum error from line of sight but others may prefer the ability to still use the iron sights.

1911 scope mount
I have the Aimtech mount installed on two Kimbers (9mm Stainless-Target & a 45ACP Gold-Match-II). It is a very well-made, precision item. You couldn't ask for better fit and finish. I would rate the installation process as medium-difficult for a novice. If you already know how to replace a sear-spring in a 1911, installation is a snap! The enclosed instructions are a good guide, a few steps that would make them complete, are missing. If you have a Ambi-Safety, it must be removed. No extra parts are needed. The only down-side of the installation (for me) is that I can't remove the slide when the mount is installed. Both of my Kimbers have the large, adjustable rear sights. The upper, right-hand corner of the sight strikes the mount and prevents slide removal. I think that lower, non-adjustable sights would not be a problem.

The additional cost of installation was worth it as it is now usable and working excellent at the range The millet red dot that I purchased is on the mount and showing good results.
Pros: The Aimtech scope Mount APM-7 mounted on My 45 is doing excellent job
Cons: It did require installation by gunsmith; had to trim & polish pins

Well made as all Aimtech's are
While I was still able to get the pin thru the mainspring housing and into the mount properly, there has to be a better way. I did put this on a Kimber Custom II, not sure if all 1911's have the same issue.
Pros: Perfect fitment
Cons: Pin/screw going thru the main spring housing, can't get it thru with out marring the threads.
