Might just be the worst glass I've looked though. I have some $100 scopes on 22s that bring a much better picture than this scope. I swapped it out for a UTG that was 1/3 the price and works a lot better.

I was putting together a budget build bolt action and read about how great athlon was. I bought the mil style argos and started my journey. 100 yard was a cake walk and quickly got to 500 yard. As I got to 1000 yard I noticed that the elevation knob had ran out. I didn't realize this only had 13 click for elevation and windage. I had to compensate and use my reticle, to hit my target. My only opinion was to shim my scope and try again next time. I still think it was worth it, but I think this was made to hit 500 yards to 800 yards. I just don't think this had enough adjustment to hit long distance. There's many videos online with people shooting at 1000+ yards and they definitely are pros, but for an average joe I think it would be difficult to do it, but definitely not impossible.

I have mostly Nikon Scopes and this has better glass and the range is unbelievable. I shot a deer at 45 yards and I could only see the deer in the scope. It is a little high power for hunting under 100 yards with, but it will work. I would highly recommend. The parralax is spot on it is an amazing scope for the money!

Before I even post this, I will admit that I should have known better. I bought this scope in the new Gen 2 version and went to sight it in and the glass is just dreadful. I made every adjustment that I thought appropriate and had another set of eyes do the same, and even at the $399 price point it is not something I can use. I did not expect a high end scope, but I would think my glass should be sharp enough to see my groups at 100 yards at 10x or 12x. As I said, I knew the risk of buying something inexpensive and lost out. Learn from my mistake. I have had nothing but good luck with the SWFA SS scopes I bought at the same price point, so I rolled the dice on this Athlon and crapped out..

I've been using this scope for around a year now, have it mounted on a AR 10 chambered in 260 remington, Had to send the first one back due to parallax quit working, had replacement in 3 weeks and been great ever since. Adjustments are pretty tactile, glass is pretty clear through all ranges. Just bought a second one.

Buy once cry once, I've heard this a thousand times when it comes to buying high dollar optics. Here's the problem with that statement, if you bought a Vortex PST Gen 1 a few years ago, you probably spent right around $1000.00 dollars for a great scope. I would put this Athlon Argos BTR right up there with the gen 1 PST and it cost me under $300.00. So tell me, whose crying now? The turrents are a bit mushy until you remove some of the factory heavy grease. The scope tracks as well if not better than my Vortex Diamondback tactical which cost $100.00 more. The glass is more than acceptable and in this price range I'd say downright astonishing. Is it a S&B or Nightforce? No but it more than holds its own with scopes costing 2 to 3 times as much. The Athlon Warrenty is right there with Nikon & Vortex as well. After beating this thing around in the woods on a few pig hunts and numerous trips to the range I am sold on this brand. My only complaint is the short eye relief. I planned on mounting this one my 300WM but with only 3.3" of eye relief, I am a bit worried about it kissing my eyebrow. I decided to mount it on my 6.5CM with a good set of Vortex Precision Ring and am more than happy with the performance. Athlon should sponser me as I have easily sold 10 of these for them by letting anyone and everyone at the range try it out. Going to step up of the Ares BTR for my RPR which I had intended to splurge on the nightforce. With the savings my kid will get his Mossb...

Clear optics with no fuzz around the edges. Eye box easy to acquire. Adjustment for windage and elevation is crisp with perceptible clicks. Low light use is a snap with the lighted reticle. I have one on my big bore air rifle and another on my magnum centerfire, no difference in performance/holding zero. I love the FFP reticle, esp for dialing/doping for long range.
Cons:
- reticle may be too fine for some
Best Used for:
- hunting and tactical or competative shooting

Let me start buy saying my friend has one of these that's actually pretty darn clear at all magnifications which is why I bought one. I didn't get so lucky even he said its terrible compared to his. I have the MOA version of this scope and it's fair at best. Tracks OK, illuminated reticle is barely noticeable in the dark on full power, eye relief is well just inconsistent at best. Glass is comparable to a bushnell banner. Mine scope is good up to 18 power but its worthless after that.

I purchased the Athlon Helos 6x24x50 f1 side focus rifle scope in June of 2018. I mounted it on my Browning BAR 30.06 and sighted it in at an area that allowed me shot out to 1000 yards. I should also mention the retical I chose was APMR FFP IR. The reason I like that retical is it has a lot of windage & elevation lines. I didn't want to use the terrets to line up my shots at distancees out to 1000 yards. I am electronically challenged & by the time I figure out how many clicks to adjust the terrets the animal would have moved & I would have to recalculate & I would have hit the wrong button or # on my phone miss my shot. I sighted the scope from 100 to 1000 yards by knowing what each line corresponded to in yardage. I made a cheat sheet & had that on the stock. When I went moose & caribou hunting in September I seen a medium size bull caribou decided to take it. It ranged at 920 yards. I lined up on the line that corresponded to 900 and shot. I hit the caribou center front shoulder(lung). It fell at 922 yards measured with way points on GPS. I highly recommend this scope. I also broke the side parralex on the hunt. I sent Athlon the scope. Within 10 days I received a new scope NO CHARGE NO RECEIPT NO HASSLE NO QUESTION. That is how warrenties are sapossed to work. Very professional company & very good optics priced about half of the other reputable optics. I would and will buy more of their optics.
Pros:
- Price and warranty
