Most Helpful Positive Review very easy and affordable
The first time i used it didn't bring a table with me so just set it up on a big cooler and my first three shots closed the bulls eye at 200 yds with my .270 works great
Most Helpful Negative Review Caldwell Matrix Shooting Rest 101600
Where the price is relatively inexpensive, it's as if the engineers never even tried to use it. The metal "leaf spring" would always catch on the plastic gears tearing them up. I tried several adjustments to the leaf spring but in the end, I just removed the spring and tightened the bolt down to h...

Almost Awesome!

The Caldwell Matrix
Shooting Rest

The Caldwell Matrix Shooting Rest is for the money a good piece of gear to have for the range. Especially if you typically shoot at your own range or in a location where commercial ranges are not accessible.
First it is lightweight and fairly easy to use. And I do mean lightweight..I actually use clamps to hold this rest onto my shooting table. However I also use extremely heavy loads for all sorts of ammo.
The shooting rest is easy to use from adjusting the height to the length adjustment at the back of the unit.
Shooting rest appears to be constructed fairly well with an impact resistant plastic. I would say the weakest link on this product would be the thin metal clip that is located behind the height adjustment nob. For now it has preformed well for me.
I would recommend this product to others.

Great for zeroing your scopes / red dots and practicing proper trigger pulls

by BG, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 18, 2024
This rifle/pistol rest is a must if you want to accurately zero your scopes and red dots. Granted I’m not an expert long range shooter, I was able to get a 1.25 in group with my AR from 100 yards with cheap ammo. It’s also great for zeroing your pistol’s red dots since the storage cover acts as a rest for your pistol. I like the adjustable knob on the side as it helps you make smooth micro-adjustments to the height of your muzzle. It’s also very light. I usually bring a heavy backpack with my pistols and ammo, and a guitar case with my rifles to the range. The last thing I want is to carry an additional heavy sandbag or heavy rifle rest. Finally, this rest can help you improve your trigger pull by comparing your trigger pull on the rest with your freestanding trigger pull.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Sturdy
  • height adjustments with a knob
  • works with rifles and pistols
Cons:
  • no lateral knob adjuster
Best Used for:
  • zeroing your scopes and red dots
  • perfecting your trigger pull

Not compatible

by Officialdd, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 18, 2024
Not compatible with glock 43x because it was sitting in an angle. You also have to remove your hand guard if you have one on your weapon for it to fit perfectly. That's about it

Sighting & Zeroring Fun

by Prpunisher, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on March 13, 2024
If you’re a pro gunsmith or range rat that does a lot of sighting & zeroing than a heavier metal rest would be more suitable, but if you’re like me who enjoys setting up their own rifles & pistols this is great. It’s not the most well constructed piece, since it’s all plastic it is very light, so you can bring it anywhere with no hassles. The flexibility of use for a rifle & especially a pistol when you remove the extension makes for a stable, height adjustment rest to get your pistol level & on target to fine tune your sights or optics. I used it on 1 AR & 4 pistols from compacts to a 1911 & accommodated each with no problems.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Stable platform for sighting
  • Flexible to accommodate any size pistol
Cons:
  • Plastic is a little low budget
Best Used for:
  • Sighting
  • Stability

Be careful its plastic

by William Simmons, from AZ, United States Written on January 8, 2024
Overall this is a great rest. Very well thought out and adjustable. My trouble started when I let a new shooter use it to shoot my Ak. I have an VG-6 Epsilon on it and the concussion was enough to fracture the plastic rest on one side. I glued it back together and it broke with normal use again and again. Now I’m buying a bag.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • stable
  • Well engineered
  • Fully adjustable
Cons:
  • made of plastic
  • Will fracture with some muzzles if too close
Best Used for:
  • sighting in

Great for the price

by Mark D, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on May 21, 2023
I know this isn't the most amazing shooting rest, but for the cost it's great. Was able to use it for checking and re-zeroing optics for a Remington 700, AR15, AR22, and a Sig P226. We'll also be using it when we get our new scope mounted for our Savage Mark II. Was able to fit full size mags with a little moving around on both ARs and absolutely no issues with the bolt action. The Pistol is tough no matter what, but felt much better about my Red Dot zero after using the rest to really check it.

We Zeroed the AR15 and Rem 700 at 100 years and the AR22 and P226 at 25 yards.
Pros:
  • CHEAP AND EASY TO USE
Cons:
  • it's a bit light and flimsy feeling
Best Used for:
  • Zeroing an optic

Scott’s Shooters World. Osage Iowa 50461

Good product. Very handy. However I’m an FFL. holder and I’m used to wholesale pricing. After buying this item I found that I could buy it twenty bucks cheaper retail. So as a result don’t need to receive anymore email from your company. Buy lots of products but not the way you have them priced. Thank you
Pros:
  • Selection
Cons:
  • Not wholesale priced

I love this rest. It's light weight and very durable. The adjustments are easy. I have joint issues so carrying around the metal ones has gotten to be too much for me so I purchased this one and i'm so glad I did. Great price on optics planets also.
Pros:
  • light weight
Cons:
  • None
