Reviews & Ratings for Crosstac Front Sight Picatinny Rail
— 6 reviews — Page 1
First, let me say that this is a very elegant solution to adding a Picatinny rail to an AR with conventional forends. Not only does it give you eight slots (most others max out at five)but it looks really nice. Others I looked ate were rectangular chunks of metal milled out to get the job done, and ...

This item WILL NOT work on the A2 front sight that comes stock on the Ruger AR-556. The bottom rear of the sight behind the Bayonet lug is wider due to the sight having a Quick Disconnect (QD) port and will not allow the part to slide onto Bayonet lug. Also the Ruger sight does not have a standard r...

The Crosstac mount is a nice solid clean mount. Easy to install and solid. I tried tons of other mounts for a light on the m4 ar-15. Some were too awkward to use, too bulky and poorly designed and wouldn't stay tight. All looked terrible like an after thought. Most of them cost more. The Crosstac mount looks and works like part of the firearm. I have purchased more for all the m-4s I have great product good price.

This is a great solution for those that want to mount their weapon light (or any thing else) closer to the business end of the barrel. you do have to remove the stock sling swivel from the Bottom of the A2 front sight post which is easy to do with a punch. This will fit on any mil-spec A2 front sight post with a bayonet lug. I used it to mount a weapon light closer to the end of the barrel on a BCM quad rail with a A2 front sight post. I also like the fact that with my PEQ-15 mounted on top of the quad rail and the light mounted below they are more vertically aligned as well. This as a good sturdy well made product that I definitely recommend.

It did take some Dremel work to round off and flatten the ears on the gas block. Took less than 15 minutes. Take a little off, fit, rinse repeat until it fits snugly and then drive that roll pin in. I took off my large side mounted light and am using an inline light instead. Eliminated a huge snag point on my setup. Looks cool.
Pros:
Looks good, eliminates snag point
Cons:
Requires a Dremel for PSA guns

I did have to remove the stock sling swivel from the bayonet lug on my Colt LE6920 to install. However, the installation was very easy and the rail fits nice and sturdy. Perfect spot for attaching a laser / tac light or a bipod.
