The Mark 6 is currently sitting atop my custom GA precision 6.5 Creedmoor competition gun along side a Geissele Super Precision Mount. Good lord what a combination. Constantly pulling sub 1/2 MOA groups at 100 yards and easily keeping the trend going far beyond.
Pros:
- - crystal clear glass
- - Audible and tactile clicks on turrets
- - very simple and intuitive zero stop
- - compact and light for Its power
- - robust and rugged design
Best Used for:
- - Extreme long range
- - Hunting
- - Tactical or Duty use
- - Competitive Long range shooting

I select my scopes based on what I intend to do with the gun it is mounted on. I own S & B, Vortex and Leupold this scope was purchased to be a quality lightweight scope that would provide excellent optic for hunting in a variety of environments. It is lightweight to carry hunting, yet powerful enough to meet my needs over various distances up to 1,000 yards. The glass is great, as is the performance. I would purchase this scope again without hesitation

Overall, this scope is fantastic. It is light and compact, and offers amazing clarity. The reticle is good for long range but not great. The amount of lines and the location of the reference numbers make it easy to get lost when trying to engage targets quickly. I am used to the Vortex EBR-2 Reticle and will need some time to get used to this one. The elevation turret is great (although it will seldom be used). It locks at the zero setting and then remains unlocked, once it has been moved off of zero.
I used a Geissele mount for my AR, and needed the "hyper extended" version for proper eye relief. (I prefer a compact, nose on charging handle position)
Pros:
- Clarity
- Size
- Weight
- speed

I'm not an experienced rifleman and I was expecting to spend some time at the range to get this dialed in. I put the Mark 6 on a Larue single piece mount. Leveled it with my iPhone and torqued it to spec. Mounted it to my LWRC REPR .308 and headed to the range. I didn't bother bore sighting and took the first shot on paper at 50 yds. 5 inches low and 1 inch right. Adjusting the correct number of 0.1 mil clicks and the second shot was in the x9 ring. Moved the target out to 100 yds and sent a group of 3. One more adjustment and it was all x10 ring from there.
The pinch ring feature for adjusting/locking elevation is awesome . The parallax adjustment is a nice feature. The scope just worked GREAT. I was able to place 3 rounds touching in the x10 ring and declare that a zero. Push in the pins and reset the elevation collar for my new zero. first time I shot the rifle and first time with the scope too.
Next up... practice my hold overs with the reticle, which is specific to the .308 round. Wish my indoor range was more than 100 yds!

PROS: With a background experience in sniping, I purchased this scope for my own training purposes. The reticle (Tremor3) is excellent, especially with the 12" drill head measurements built in. The milling stadia lines are finely distributed, allowing for very precise milling for distance determination. The wind dots are an outstanding addition, though the exact values are not fixed; they will change both with caliber and with the magnification settings (proportional changes). A Kestrel with a ballistics program will help calculate this value if used correctly. The clarity is top of the line (as expected of Leupold) and with illumination this scope can be used throughout the day into the twilight and early morning dawn. A note about the illumination: despite what the pictures show, the reticle will actually fully illuminate on settings 9 and 10 (a very nice surprise), as well as the illuminated hold over dots (show up on all settings). The positively engaged OFF positions between illumination numbers is greatly appreciated, especially having had illumination accidentally turned on in the past with other scopes and resulting in a dead battery. The parallax and illumination turret are the same turret on the left side (good use of space). The illumination/parallax turret also has a really neat feature, in which a small slot is presented for the insertion of a new battery to engage the release and open the compartment (the battery acts as the tool to open the compartment...

I own five or six Leupold scopes with several being forty plus years old. Have not had problems with any of them. I first purchased a leupold in 1972 comparing it to all the top line scopes of that time period. It was sighted in on a Ruger M77 rifle and to this day shoot 1 1/4" high at 100 yards three shots under a quarter. The adjustments have never been touched since the initial sighting in of rifle. This is true of all my Leupold scopes. I decided to try a mil-spec scope as I am retired and this gave me a new learning experience. The clarity of this scope all the way to the edge of sight picture is great. When I compare this with other high end brand scopes it is as clear or clearer. When I compare this scope to my other Leupolds I wonder why I paid so much for it as I have VX-II, VX-III, and VX-VI scopes on my rifles. Their clarity is very good all the way to the VX-II which is 44 years old. The H58 reticle on the first focal plain explains some of the price and the repeatability with the adjustments. Of coarse I never tried changing the adjustments on my other Leupold scopes after sighting them in. With this scope you can dial the shot where you want it then back to "0" and your dead on or use the Mil Dots to place a shot which is just as accurate with distance and windage. THANKS LEUPOLD for another great product.
Pros:
- Leupold reliability
- Leupold's warranty

I recently attended the Leupold Optics Precision Long Range academy with instructor Michael Baccellieri. I own Leupold products, and after the class I will never buy a different scope again. As a competitive 3Gun, and PRS shooter it is absolutely vital I have reliable and repeatable optic platform. Leupold is the only company I will trust from here on out. I actually went back to the hotel after the first night of class and sold my Vortex Razor HD II scope to a buddy. Michael loaned me a Mark 6 3-18 with an H59 reticle for the remainder of the class. With that Mark 6 on my 6.5 Creedmoor AR10 I shot a Target at 1mile on 14 power. That little Mark 6 Scope was an absolutely stunning optic. It had high clarity, it was extremely light, and compact. I am purchasing that optic here soon. Michael, Tyson, and JR are the best shooting instructors I have ever had the pleasure of training with. My skill set after the class has expanded exponentially, and I am a higher caliber of shooter now because of what I learned. The scope information, and dope info alone was well worth it. Thanks Leupold!
Pros:
- Light weight, compact, clear

Great range of adjustment with the 34mm tube... I like the magnification Range, too. If I had to pick one "do it all" scope, it would be this one. clear to the edges of the image. Illumination would have been nice, but now I'm just nitpicking. Also would like to have a sunshade. Model 700 Tactical, 300 Win Mag.
Pros: sharp image at edges, 34mm tube
Cons: no illumination, no sunshade (I'm nitpicking)

For the money, this scope really can't be beat. It's a solid performer, and high quality typical of Leupold. If it had an illuminated reticle, it would be perfect. That said, the standard reticle is perfectly usable in almost all conditions.
Pros: High quality, like the turrets
Cons: Would like an illuminated reticle

Having been using the Leupold VX 3-18X44mm illuminated scope for over a year on my 5.56 LWRC M6A2 SPR, I have been become very familiar with the range and brightness of this scope. The New Mark 8 has the same magnification Range but without illumination. It's the only thing I miss. The Mark 8 has great visibility from the lens edge to the center, and Just like the VX it has the Ballistic compensation, but in this case for the .308 round. However, I paid a lot less for the VX. In fact it was under $!K, and it's a fantastic scope; especially with the Boone and Crocket reticle. The new Mark 8 has the CMR for the .308 cartridge. It goes out to 1100 yards or meters, far further than the VX. All in all I prefer the Mark 8 because of it's smaller length and weight. It looks great on my new HK, and I use the Wilson Combat mount. Once again Leupold has met the competition head to head; and it beats them all in brightness, clarity, weight, and especially price. Try buying this range in the Swarovski, and you will pay at least a grand more. Leupold is the Leader in just about every class of scope they make. And I am a fan for life; as this is my third Leupold; and I do my homework prior to purchasing a scope. I highly recommend this beauty!
Pros: Lightweight, Quick Target Acquisition, Awesome Range
Cons: Would have liked illumination
