Most Helpful Positive Review Lucid P7 Weapons Optic is a lot of value for the money
I own two of the HD-7 non-magnified scopes and have been very happy with them, just wished they had some magnification. Now Lucid has made that come true. The P7 is extremely easy to set up and use and the clarity and sharpness is very good. While I'm sure it's not as good as scopes 4x the price, i...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not worth the money. Poor support
I bought this product thinking it was a good deal. Appeared to be tough and well built. Took it to the range and the lighted optic would turn on an off intermittently for no apparent reason. Changed batteries and problem persisted. Sent device back to Lucid and they could not reproduce the problem. ...

Little Things

by DrBubbi, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on July 26, 2021
I have waited two years before giving this product a review. I have had the P7 mounted on a 458 Socom, 10mm PC, and now 5.56. Overall this is a decent optic, but the “little things” keep it from being a great optic. The first of which, an ever so slightly canted reticle, a finicky power on/off or mode button and the auto shut off. I pressed the power button to shut it off one day, then went back two days later and it had came back on. It was stuck at the lowest brightness setting and it didn’t make any sense because the auto shut off should have turned it off after two hours irregardless if I had inadvertently left it on. So, I went out and shot for a while and then turned it off, went back a week later and it was on the lowest setting again. The next time, the battery was dead. I changed batteries, and I do use lithium, same thing. Occasionally, it will operate as it should, turning Aside from the canted reticle and the powering issue, the reticle works well for me, I love the blue (very easy to see) and it has made a decent range optic. Passed the box test and tracking was fairly close. I did manage to shut it off a few times and the auto brightness function works well when the optic has actually powered off. In my opinion, it is a decent range optic, but not one I would have on a weapon for personal defense. I personally only recommend this for range use, but there are less expensive options that work just as well and possibly better quality.

Rock-solid optic

by Mike B., from TX, United States Written on October 16, 2020
This is a great, durable optic. It handles the recoil of .308 well without change in zero. I really like the blue reticle it comes with as well. The only minor downside I would metion is the focus ring is very stiff, but once focus is set, it will not move!

Not as good as it could be

by johnny, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 15, 2019
I have mixed feelings about this scope. The optics are excellent, and I like the look and the rubberized finish. On the down side the vaunted 5 MOA part of the reticle is pretty useless for M193 balistics. This is too bad because this could be a great scope with a few changes like changing the adjustment to mils with popup turrets and changing elevation 'ladder' part of the reticle to mils as well. Unfortunately these suggestions were not well by the Lucid person I spoke with. If I had it to do again, I would buy a Primary Arms 5X Prism instead.
Pros:
  • see above review
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Close range tactical shooting

Lucid P3 optic

by Bmoose, from PA, United States Written on May 16, 2016
Looks good so far. Haven't had it out to test it yet. Reticle may be canted slightly. Can't tell if it's my eyes or the product. Seems to be crystal clear and the illumination works well. Can't beat the price tho

Lucid P7 Review

by David, from MI, United States Written on May 16, 2016
I currently have 3 ACOG's and there is no question about performance, durability or quality. But for the money the Lucid P7 has got to be the best 4X ACOG type optic on the market today. Very clear glass with an excellent reticle. This optic is easy to use and very solid. I'm not going down range so the trijicon is just overkill. Optic's Planet had the best price on this optic which is already at a great price. My favorite feature on this optic is the 3.25 inch eye relief. The Trijicon ACOG's I have are less than 2 inches.
Pros:
  • Priced well.
  • Generous eye relief
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • AR 15 rifles and carbines

Lucid P7: A lot left to be desired.

by Chris, from GA, United States Written on April 6, 2016
My first impressions were good. It looked and sounded awesome inside, however in the real world it falls pretty short. My first and biggest gripe is the half MOA turret adjustments. They are way too crude for a 4x optic. One click moves the reticle 1/2 inch at 100 yards. That is fine for a CQB optic, but for a midrange optic it is garbage. At best you get minute-of-man zeroing abilities at 200+ yards.

Second complaint: The illumination just isn't bright enough. It is great indoors and the evening but in the middle of a bright day the illumination completely disappears against a white or light colored target. This isn't a deal breaker since the reticle is black when it isn't lit up, but it is highly disappointing.

Battery life is rather short (2500 hrs) compared to similarly priced products on the market. Most modern optics have at 10,000+ hr battery life.
Field of view is not spectacular, and eye relief is middle of the road. Better than some, worse than others.

Cons: The glass is clear, and the reticle is razor sharp. Controls are easy to use and placed on the left side so they can be operated with support hand only.

Hopefully Lucid will address some of this BS in the next generation. Too bad I already spent the money on this one.

Final verdict: You get what you pay for. Save up for an ACOG with a BDC reticle.
Pros:
  • clear glass
  • sharp reticle
  • good ergonomics
Cons:
  • Crude adjustments
  • Weak illumination
  • Poor battery life compared to other products on the market.
Best Used for:
  • 300 yards and under.

Really rugged

by jmfogarty, from VT, United States Written on March 1, 2016
I bought this after doing a bunch of research - looking at units costing 3x as much. I like it. The guys (current active duty military) like it, and comparing it to the ACOG, it's tough to beat at the price. We beat on it pretty good, and aside from needing a battery to light the reticle, you can't get much better for the price. If you got the cash, go for an ACOG. But you won't be disappointed in this unit. Etched reticle still works without the battery, too. Just not as bright. I'm using it on a suppressed 300BLK SBR demo unit to show to local police. They like it, and have been beating on it pretty good without any issues.
Pros:
  • Price
  • performance
  • rugged
Cons:
  • Battery

Great, cost efficient alternative.

by Marksouth, from TX, United States Written on January 19, 2016
I was somewhat skeptical of the quality of this optic, given the price difference between it and something "high end" like Trijicon. Ok, so they aren't really apples to apples, but I would say this is a great alternative to spending over $1000 on an optic.

It feels very sturdy and well made. The lighted reticle is nice, and the reticle can still be used without the light on. The only option I would like to see on this sight is quick detach mounts. They have those available for the HD7, and I have not checked with Lucid to see if they also fit the P7.

Overall very happy with the P7 optic and I plan to purchase more Lucid optics in the future.
Pros:
  • Good looks
  • rugged construction
  • Cost when compared to competitors.
Cons:
  • No quick detach mount

Lucid P7 Great Value

by Charlie D, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on August 29, 2015
The only thing I would like is a QD mount possibility. Would like to have the option of installing a LaRue style mount. Otherwise this is a great optic for the price. The on button is in the right place, the quality is very good, eye relief is comparable to the ACOG. I haven't submerged it, nor have I done so for my other optics, will take them at their word.

I especially like the auto brightness control. Have walked around at mid-day here in Texas in August, into and out of the garage, house, workshop and in and out of dense shade from the oaks. Both eyes open and the lighted reticle remained visible.
