Very satisfied, prompt shipping of what looks to be quality optic . Made the right choice. A trip to the range is highly anticipated ,very anxious to try this scope on a Thompson build I recently completed

Very nice scope, mounted it on a 357 s&w 686 and fits perfect, make sure your rings are not too high, the only problem I had is that I maxed out the elevation adjustments at 45 yards but that related to th rings not the scope

Glass is bright and clear. Nice eye relief. BDC with the Nikon Spot On app takes the guess work out of the different loads. Mounted this on a 45-70 lever action. Wasn’t sure about the silver finish but it looks good on a stainless rifle.

I have two of these. One is matte black on my Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle in 308 and the other stainless on my Super Redhawk 44 mag. The lenses are crystal clear. The one on my 308 has had the same zero on it for 4 years now despite shooting 20 to 80 rounds every range trip. Every time I take it to the range it shoots a 3 rounds cloverleaf at 100 yards right where the crosshairs are set. Adjustments are positive and turrets can be reset to zero after sighting in. The caps are a simple 2 full turns to take off and put back on and the warranty is idiot proof. Add to that the Nikon SpotOn ballistic match software that will make your dope cards for you and this is a cant lose scope especially at half the price of the Burris and with 2 more magnification settings. It's a very versatile scope as long as you understand that the eye relief will change about 4 inches throughout the power range. At 2.5 it's perfect for arms length on the pistol, while at 8x it's about right for the scout scope mount on the rifle which is closer than the end of my arms. Given the intended use you can improvise field positions to make the eye relief right for your power setting although it may not always be perfect off the bench, it's not a conventional scope. I own two of them, and I only bought the second recently, the first one has about 1200 rounds of 308, 4 states, and some hard use on it, so it's plenty durable.
Pros:
- price clarity warranty durability
Best Used for:
- scout rifle scope or heavy revolver where shots vary from close to farther

Put this scope on a Savage .308 Scout. Took a few minutes (literally a very short time) to get used to it being so far forward on the rail. But once it was zeroed........ what a tack driver, couldn’t be happier. Next phase is to use “spot on app” for holdovers and test accuracy. Wished I would’ve gotten higher rings; I’ve got elevation topped as high as it will go for a 100 yard zero. But that’s ok I can live with that

I use this on an FX Ranchero .22 caliber air pistol. This is a near match grade piece and is extremely accurate. The glass on this scope is clear, the turrets track with precision. The eye relief is adequate, and works well enough for me. The BDC reticle functions well, and the ballistics program on the Nikon site is easy to use. I target shoot and hunt rodents out to about 60 yards with this and it serves the purpose well enough. Thank you, Fred.

I bought this to put on a ruger scout rifle. The eye relief on the variable magnification does not work well. The issue is that once you set it and tried to adjust the magnification the eye relief was incorrect for the rifle. I put a Burris Scout scope on and that works great.

Scope is clear as crystal glass. Dialing magnifier above six power definitely affects the eye relief. Lower magnification
eye relief is consistent. Price point very good from Optics Planet. This is my second scope purchase from the Planet.
I was not at all impressed with the Leupold straight two power I bought a few months ago. To do over, I would have bought
the Nikon Force scope the first time. I don't see the value in the price for the Leupold two power. Realistically, it is
only a 1.7 power. The objective bell is only 20mm, so picking up what you are sighting at is tricky. In my opinion, the
only good thing the Leupold has going for it is its compact size and weight. It really doesn't give you an advantage to
iron sights.
The disappointment in my latest purchase, the Nikon Force XR scope, was the SLOOOOOOW delivery process. Never go with the
standard shipping if you want your order in less than a week. My scope left Aurora, Il. on 11-10-17, went to Berlin, Wi.,
then to Burbank, Il., then to Perrysburg, Ohio, then to Fairview Township, Pa., then to Breinigsville, Pa. changing from
Fed Ex to Smart Post, where it spent two days in my local area waiting for postal delivery to my home on 11-17-17.
I left the delivered parcel set an additional day on my dining room table to get acclimated to the environment it was
now in compared to the week of motion madness it had experienced. Enough Said!

I have several of these on both TC Contenders and revolvers. They are outstanding pistol scope. I use then on big calibers and heavy recoil. I have never had any issues or problems whatsoever. If you're looking for a good mid priced scope for a pistol I suggest you consider this one.

I have been a Leupold scope user since 1980 and this is my very first Nikon scope. The scope is married to a CVA Optima V2 blackpowder pistol and looks and feels awesome, short and not heavy at all.
The clarity of the glass is exceptional and the brightness exhibited during low light preliminary testing is very, very good imo, at least as good as my Leupold scopes.
The crosshairs are bold where they need to be and the addition of the BDC reticle circles will be helpful for those shooting longer distances after the scope has been dialed in to a closer range, 25 yards or so.
The EER (extended eye relief) of this model makes it an ideal pistol scope and once the optimum distance from the shooters eye to the eye piece of the scope has been determined the field of view is good. At the higher magnification settings the field of view might be an issue at rapidly moving targets but still acceptable. At the typical yardages most experienced handgun hunterss are comfortable with it may very well be a non-issue at all.
Imo the scope met all of my expectations, well made and obviously rugged, easy to adjust elevation and windage dials are the best I have seen on any scope.
In my opinion this may be the ideal pistol scope for the handgun hunter at a very acceptable price, well done Nikon !!
