Real Avid AR15 master bench block
Anyone who works on the AR15 platform rifles and pistols should have one of these. It makes removing roll pins simple. There are 10 different post ions that you are able to place the upper and lower receivers in for pin removal and installation. There is also a pin storage area on the back side.

Good for build, maintenance not so much.
This is a good tool for extraordinary disassembly/ assembly of bolt, etc. I was disappointed, however, that it cannot be used to drive receiver pins if the buffer tube is installed. So, when building your AR be sure install the trigger guard, trigger, and pivot pins BEFORE the buffer tube.
Very convenient!!!
Very convenient and well thought out!!! This block helps to keep the pieces that are being worked on securely in place!!! The magnetic pin-storage is awesome too!!!
Pros:
- well constructed and light weight
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- ar 15

Ar15 master bench block
This thing is cool...I've got 2xl hands, so hold these parts is usually a bit more than challenging. With this bench lock, the hard parts are held nicely while giving me a chance to get the pins and springs in or out with much more control. Nowi need one for AR 10 in 308 and 30-06... lol

great buy, great tool
When bought on sale, this is a great buy! It's handy for holding parts in place when you assemble and disassemble your rifle lower and upper.
Also makes a good gift.

OK tool, but…
Overall nice quality and materials with plenty of features, but I’m a little disappointed in this block as it does not have a gas-block cradle for pinning the gas tube. I’ll have to buy a separate one somewhere, because it’s a hard enough operation already.
Pros:
- Tough materials
- Multiple functions
Cons:
- No gas block jig
Best Used for:
- AR bolt maintenance etc

Pretty Great.
Real Avid is making great stuff. This block is worth the price just for the ejector and forward assist platforms. My only gripe is the lower must be completely stripped to lay flat. A Magpul grip causes it to rise up a bit, and an ambi selector causes similar problems.
Pros:
- Ejector removal, Forward assist
Cons:
- Lower must be stripped with no grip
Best Used for:
- GP Lower builds & maintenance

Does it all
It’s always frustrating to try and hold a part while installing or removing a tight pin. This bench block provides a solid surface for tapping against, and it doesn’t slide around the bench.
It doesn’t hold the forward assist forward, for installing its pin, but this is easy to do using a pilot pin.

Good Block
For my use case thus far, it's worked really well. I do not do any niche or overly bespoke things to any given component and everything I've tried this for has worked well and made assembling / disassembly easier. I could see having issues with taper pins (there is no good place for an A2 Sight). The times I've worked with taper pins, the only way I could get the taper pins out was with some heat, a couple of hockey pucks and a big mallet - and I was swinging that thing with some force - I will not use A2 sights, there are too many other good options out there now.
I don't think this block can account for every single position you may want a component in, but it definitely bests other blocks or hockey pucks with specific use cases.
I had a smaller Real Avid block that I beat the heck out of - and its held up well. I expect this will do the same.

Disappointing
I bought this bench block for it's versatility and features. Unfortunately it has not lived up to the advertising. The first two operations I attempted to perform were not possible . The bolt extractor screw is not long enough to compress the extractor for roll pin removal. The vertical lower receiver feature would not accommodate any of the lowers I tried. The left side of the block forward pivot area prevented insertion of the lower and locking with the forward pivot pin. The side lower receiver side bed did work.

Crumbled and mis-shapen
The reason I ordered this tool is because I have 2 difficult front sight taper pins not wanting to come out, thinking this tool would give me better support; I ordered it. The A2 sight does not lay solid or flat on this thing, it rolls around. I noticed the plastic is crumbling in one spot and becoming mis-shapen in others from just using it on taper pins. No, this tool did not help me get the taper pins out, if anything it made the situation worse. Maybe it works well for other things but it did not help me in the least, $35 wasted.
Best Used for:
- Possibly stuff other than taper pins
