The DRS is every bit as rugged as the Eotechs and has the option of single or multi-point hold reticles but also has slightly better battery life. Even though the Steiner isn't technically a holographic, the reticle projection is still very crisp and glass quality has the hallmark premium clarity that Steiner is known for. I prefer the DRS's combo of the large dot/small dot reticle compared to the donut of death on the Eotech, I feel it makes it much easier for quick acquisition.
In comparison to Aimpoint, the Steiner has a larger sight picture and already comes sitting at absolute co-witness height. It has a magnesium body and appears more armored thus more able able to take punishment than your average T1 or T2. The power and brightness control buttons are tactile and easy to manipulate thanks to the soft-touch silicon texture that's been applied to them. The NV capable settings also make this an ideal passive aiming option to complement an active aiming tool like the DBAL laser.
The battery life, rated at 2,000 hours, is adequate for most purposes. It's not the greatest battery life available for a red-dot, but considering that it runs on AA batteries which are easily sourced compared to CR123s...you'll hear no complaints from me. The 13 hour auto-shutoff also helps to increase battery life but I wish it had the option to adjust the delay time. The mounting lug is easy to use and tighten, although I do wish there was a QD option available.
All in all, the Steiner DRS...
